  1. BTW, my wife has 3 photos of her and her ex in bed, in their clothes, unsmiling. I wonder what the visa interviewer would make of that?

As others have echoed, hopefully she just got rid of those. Regardless of whether or not those pictures were "naughty" (which those clearly are not), some things just don't need to be part of a file and that is one of them. I read an interview over on VJ of a USCIS adjudicator who has seen people include naughty pictures in their files thinking it will bolster their case when all it does is provide for nothing more than "really" moments.

  2. To echo A&B somewhat, I went to Guangzhou when my wife had her interview so I could support her. We had a strong case and I felt me being there would make a strong case even stronger. Furthermore, as nerve wracking as the waiting to hear the result experience was for me, it would have been much harder had I not been there.

Go if you can, not only will you be supporting your spouse (most important), you may even be helping your own sanity.

  3. Having a child neither increases nor decreases the chances of success. With that being I have heard that it is very rare for a visa to be denied when a couple has been living together in the beneficiary's country.

If a visa is issued, it must be used before expiration date that is printed on the visa. Validity of the visa is tied to when the medical exam takes place, the closer to the interview date the medical exam is conducted, the longer the validity of the visa.

    For example:

    • Medical exam takes place in October
    • Interview takes place in November
    • Assuming the interview is successful and a visa is issued, then it would likely have an expiration date for the following April (6 months from the date of the medical exam)
  4. I have flown Hainan on all of my trips to/from China (they fly nonstop between Seattle and Beijing).

    • Overall, my experience has been good.
    • When I bought the tickets, I wasn't able to select seats specific seats. When I checked in for flights from Seattle, staff did ask me for a preference. It has been 3 years since I purchased a ticket directly from them so things may be different when booking through the website now.
  5. Update and FYI

We submitted the following (for me and my daughter):

    • invite letter (per instruction
    • copy of letter writer's ID card (per instruction)
    • copy of our marriage certificate
    • copy of required docs for daughter's visa application

    Here are the results:

    • I was issued an L visa valid for 1 year, multiple entry, authorized 60 day stay upon each entry
    • My daughter was issued an L visa valid for 1 year, multiple entry, authorized 90 day stay upon each entry.
  6. I Just Sent Email to my 2 Senators and my Local Congressman . See what they can do I will remind them that My union supported them and if they want that to continue they better help .or I will tell my Union to withdraw the support

    Michael

Senators and Congressmen have no sway in the ultimate decision on whether or not to issue a visa. By law, CO's have the sole discretion on whether or not to issue a visa and the Doctrine of Consular Nonreviewability essentially makes those decisions final.

Even if they did make a query, all they will tell them is what your sister in-law, denied for lack of ties, it won't be more specific than that.

You can threaten to tell your Union to withdraw support you all you want, it won't make any difference.

  7. Has anyone applied for and received a Q2 visa without needing an invitation letter from someone in China (i.e. your marriage certificate was sufficient even though your spouse has a Green Card).

Experience with the Consulate in San Francisco is preferred since that's the jurisdiction I live in but any experience is helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Do affidavits need to have a photocopy of a person's ID attached?

    No

As for filling out the G-325A, will it be problematic if our addresses are the same, but that we don't have any proof to establish that we reside together. I live in housing provided by the university and my husband lives with me. Are they going to ask me to get proof from the university? Would it be better for him to put his job's address as they do provide him with housing?

As far as the G-325A is concerned, this is not an issue.

Is it best to provide all the information on both the I-130 and G-325A in English or is Pinyin okay? This relates most specifically to addresses because once the petition is approved, info will be sent there. I do not want anything getting lost in the mail.

Addresses would only be in Pinyin.
