  1. Thanks you guys!!!!!!!!! We got home on Mar 15 and it's been very busy getting new furniture, cell phone, registering for English school , meeting my friends and relatives. She loves meeting Chinese people so she can have her Chinese friends too. We know a couple of Chinese couples with US husbands like me but are meeting more who have just passed their interviews and who will be returning from visiting China and their families so she is waiting to meet as much as she can. Oh yeah, especially in school she thought , that she could meet many more but she says those from her class are not too freindly and are not too happy here it seems. some Chinese women she meets in school have been here for 20 years and only now are going to English school. No wonder thery are not happy - they haven't assimilated into the community I tell her. She agrees. We are getting to know of each other that we didn't know even in these past two weeks. But everything is good and I guess we are getting adjusted to each other now. I guess the "honeymoon " is over already. he,he,he. :-) wilfred
  2. yes, Hawaii does have a lot of Asian population. The climate is much , much better than Changsha -real hot and real cold. And the environment is so much cleaner than China and the people, she will find, are much friendlier. i am in Changsha right now and it is so unkept by the people , I'll be glad to get home as soon as possible. We already know a few couples who the wives are from China and in their 30's and the husbands are in their 60's, like us. And these couples know more like that whom we will meet as soon as my fiancee reaches Hawaii. I am looking forward to meeting the others too. We will have so much things to do when we get to Hawaii like getting married, making a wedding reception, taking some trips, meeting my friends and relatives who anxiously waiting to meet my fiancee, buying new furniture for our new apartment, etc. wilfred
  3. Called the number given to us to check the Post Office and they said that it was received and to pick it up tomorrow afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally ., Thanks for all your posts. We are heading home on Mar 15th . We are excited and my fiancee is a little scared of her new life in Hawaii. First time out of the country and alone without family except me. Take care and have a happy life everyone. wilfred
  4. My fiancee told VISA people to send VISA to Post Office in Guangzhou 6 days ago but still not VISA at Post Office. We call every few hours each day. Is there anyone else that we can call to see if the Embassy sent the VISA to the Post Office? Thanks. wilfred
  5. Tsap. "Good luck with your new life, man." You and your wife too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was meant for you in the last post. Had to repost just to make sure you got the message from me correctly. wilfred
  6. Thanks dnoblett. Yes, a great life to you guys too!! wilfred
  7. My fiancee just passed her interview on the 29th and we had them send her visa to the Guangzhou Post office because we have a flight out from changsha , where my fiancee lives, to Hawaii on Mar 8th. I did not want the mail to get lost from Guangzhou to Changsha so we opted to have it go "straight" to the Post Offilce here in guangzhou. I thought one less trip it has to take before getting into our hands. You know, directly to Post office here and not to Post Office here then to Changsha. More people to handle it , the more chances that it will be mistakenly sent to other places. I didn't want to take that chance. even if my advisor here said it takes about the same time. Just thinking for ourselves and making our best guess decision for ourselves. Hope we are right. he,he,he..
  8. Hi there, My fiancee got her interview letter. It says the Feb. 28th. Is that the interview date or a so-called "document intake" date that I've read about on the websites and the real interview date is the 29th. My attorney says interview is on the 28th, whatever the letter says. What is right? Also my attorney says she will only need the Affidavit of support and additional evidence that I went to visit my fiancee 4 months ago to propose, which were not in original submitted papers. Just those two items. What do you guys think? I am getting nervous. Who is right please? wilfred
  9. As of Nov 14, it worked just fine http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?/topic/44136-currently-how-long-would-it-take-from-nvc-to-guangzhou/page__view__findpost__p__581209 No answer? Wrong number? No information? What doesn't work? Okay, I just tried it and it is a US telephone number. It's closed right now so I'll call Tues. I thought I was calling China. So they can tell me if they have a interview date for my fiancee in China ? My fiancee sent in P3 a week ago so soon , I understand, that she will get P4 telling her the interview date. wilfred
  10. Thanks dnoblett1 I read somewhere that one can call DOS to see if they scheduled and interview date for one's fiancee (K-1). The email gave a number 202-663-1225 (press 1 then 0) and I called it but it doesn't work. I am in the US. Does anyone have a new number that we can call ? Thanks. wilfred
  11. My fiancee was told by a bank that she can call Guangzhou for an interview date in China. Anyone did that already? It's a new way to get interview date? Philipines have that option already, I was told. Don't know if China has that option now. wilfred
  12. Hi Everyone, My fiancee found a travel agency that filed her visa/passport forms to Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. We should hear something back within 1 week , we are told. We did not file for Korea and Japan. It is too hard or cannot file there. We will stay on the boat when we go to those 2 places. I'll let you know when we receive the passport/visas. wilfred
  13. Thanks dan1984 and dnoblett for your suggestions. I will send the names of these places to my fiancee to see if she wants to go there. wilfred
  14. Thanks dnoblett. I went to the website too and it was very helpful. I wrote to all these country's consultes in Beijing with this question and I should get the same answers you have here. I am waiting for their replys tomorrow. wilfred You might find it easier to talk to the cruise lines directly - they will know what is required of their passengers at their different ports. They will check her credentials before she boards. Even if she doesn't wish to disembark at a particular port, however, she may still be required to show evidence of admissability. I did ask Princess Cruise lines about them getting the necessary passport/visa but they just gave me a company to talk to and that company just said they get visa for only Americans/Canadians and not Chinese Nationals. :-( I was advised to have my fiancee get a hold of a travel agent in China and that's what I told my fiancee to do so hopefully she finds a travel agent that can get those visa/passports for us. Thanks. wilfred
