  1. Which service center did you file through?

Ok I am behind the ball(60 days) on this one, when I send the I-751 in I don't expect to see anything done in 30 days other then a receipt. so when her GC expires do I just go and get a stamp so she can continue to work or do I need to apply for EAD or just apply for EAD when I send in the I-751?

I just got our NOA1 about 25 days after filing.. almost forget I even filed it :o

The NOA1 will say that the GC is now extended by a year...

  3. Hello all

long time no see, it has been awhile since I read or posted here but it is that time again when I have to deal with the government and more paper work namely the I-751

In Part 3 question #9 It asks

"Have you resided at any other address since you became a permanent resident"

Well it the 16 months of waiting for her 2 yr GC we moved and they were notified properly and all is good in that respect, however in the anal ways of our government when was "Residency" granted, When we submitted from old address or when we received the GC at new address, Do I need to include the additional page with the old address listed with dates or not. I know this may be a unnessary worry but better safe then sorry.

  4. On a flight back from China I told a couple of women about my wife the response was "can she cook and clean?" My response was I can do those things I don't need a wife for that.

The woman you spoke to caught you off guard and you just did not have time for a real answer which is wanting my wife to find a better job is not stifling it is encouraging her and then supporting her in "her" final decision don't let the feminazi's get to you. I have met plenty of American woman that don't act like that remember it is an individual trait and not all women are like that.

  5. Okay, okay I do hate to be a snob about it and I never realized it made such a big diffrenece until I brought white tea back from China...I boiled the water poured it into my Yixing teapot, steeped it for "awhile" and voila... :P about the worst thing I ever tasted emerged... ;) I just made a cup here in my lab...heated the water to 75 C and then steeped for 2 min 45 sec...It is a rare and delicious treat...so it can make a BIG difference with the more delicate teas... :D

    Roger,

I think you are officially Chinese at this point. You are absolutely correct.

The second time I went to China, I intentionally sought out white tea as I had tasted some here in the U.S. (SF Chinatown). Lao Po had never tasted it and wouldn't buy it because it was too expensive. In the old days white tea was reserved only for the royal court. Boiling it ruins the tea.

Lao Po has a very good friend who runs a teahouse and we were told to not boil the tea or put boiling water on the leaves. 180F to 190F, maximum. What a difference!

I love white tea; it's my favorite, but you have to treat it with some "respect"... it is delicate, aromatic and very flavorful. I have served it to dozens of people here in the States and their response is always extremely positive.

The only note of caution here is that the white tea is VERY hard to obtain in the States. I have yet to find genuine full leaf white tea in the U.S. The major brands, Stash, Republic of Tea, Numi... you name it, they are all selling a blend or something that is 100% bogus. The blends don't work because the black tea they (usually) cut it with doesn't brew the same way as the white, so it never tastes good. The bogus stuff is just not worth having.

    Best Regards

P.S. To make it worse, I've been to "teahouses" here in California where they charge up to $35 for 3.5 ounces of "white tea" that isn't even close to authentic. Same with the others. I once bought a can of "Republic of Tea Emperor's White Tea" (in a bag!??!?!) for about that; $32.00, plus tax, only to cut open the bag and find that it wasn't even white tea.

Here's a tip; if the tea vacuum packed, it probably isn't white and, if it is, it has been ruined in the process. White tea should never be vacuum packed as that destroys the tea and ruins the flavor. It should remain in a natural state until used. Nothing wrong with sealing it, it just shouldn't be vacuum backed.

Good thread full of good info...

Have you tried http://www.redblossomtea.com/index.php I buy from here and have been happy with the tea. It is a little tea shop in SF Chinatown

  6. OK, I started looking at ITalkBB versus the Vonage I now have.

With Vonage I will give up three nice features that ITalk BB does not have. If I am wrong, please let me know.

Vonage has a simultaneous ring feature where a call will ring at the same time on my home number and on my cell phone. Yes ITalkBB has a call forwarding but it is not the same.

Vonage has a Voice mail features that ItalkBB does not have. So if my internet service is down, all calls with Vonage go to a VM. With ITalkBB, the calls are lost. (maybe not if using the call forwarding feature of ITalkBB).

Vonage has an E-mailing of VM's to my e-mail account but then ITALKBB Does not have VM.

Vonage allows me to add extra (Ghost numbers) for about $5.00 per month and ITALKBB does not offer this feature.

Of course ITalkBB does offer the free calling to China that trumps all other lost features.

So who has switched from Vonage to ITALKBB? During the switch were you able to use your Vonage and ITALKBB equipment on the cable modem??

If you have a Linksys router for Vonage (As I do), can you use it also for ITalkBB as it accepts two numbers?

If you switched from Vonage to ITALKBB and took your old Vonage number, how long did the switch take and how well did it go???

What else do I need to know???

    check out Broadvoice.com

THAT SERVICE LOOKS GOOD. It seems that with each service you get benefits and also give up other benefits.

The one beenfit of ITalkBb that is excellent is the phone number in China.

currently I have both Italkbb and broadvoice, to call china we find broadvoice easier but my wifes family can call our home or mobile with Italkbb #

  8. I-9:

If employees are authorized to work, but are unable to present the required document(s) within three business days, they must present a receipt for the application of the document(s) within three business days and the actual document(s) within ninety (90) days.

If asked for proof of filing, show a receipt.

I would guess having an expired card is NOT "Authorized to work" and won't have a valid card until they issue her a new one. That is at least how I read it.

  9. Does anyone have any experience with the above topic? If a person's work card has expired, and he/she still does not have the green card, what if the person keeps on working with the expired card?

I would guess they would be in violation of the law. my wife took time off her work until her card was arrived in the mail, which luckly was about a week.

  10. Evidence of the abuse, such as reports and affidavits from police,judges and other court officials, medical personnel, school officials, clergy, social workers, and other social service agencypersonnel. If you have an order of protection or have taken otherlegal steps to end the abuse, you should submit copies of thosecourt documents;

When I cam e home from work today she and her daughter and all of there stuff was disappeared. I would guess some serious planning involved and assistance from someone.

If she's inclined to claim abuse, it's a done deal.

If this is what you believe then so be it, but the documention tells a different story!

I would say it is true.

ok this can go back and forth forever so to keep it simple show some proof of what you are saying like a court case where a woman got a green card with no proof of abuse. until then this is just spreading rumors and fear. Yes the man should take measures to protect himself and beaware of the laws that may affect him, but telling him that it all she has to do is say some words to get a greencard is not much help.

  12. If she claims abuse (whether true or not) she has no problem whatsoever.

Claims don't make fact! She can claim anything she wants but without proof it is all just words!

We are confusing facts and claims here. A claim is just words, but if she shows up at a women's shelter, and claims verbal/mental/whatever abuse, those words can get her a green card, with or without any facts behind them "without the abuser's assistance or knowledge". In other words, the OP will not know of her claims. No proof is needed - I'm not sure that any evidence is even needed.

I don't know what her chances are of getting the green card otherwise (unless lymeboy can forward it to her), since she would have to change her address with the USCIS.

Please read the application Page 2
