  1. I jumped the gun earlier.... sorry 6 months before you enter the US and 3 months for M-day are correct.
  2. Hm... Ours said 3 months (or 90 days). Has this changed?
  3. Quick question... Preparing materials for the upcoming AOS interview and the interview notice mentions (among many things), quote: "Bring completed Affidavit(s) of Support (Form I-864), with all required evidence, including the following for each of your sponsors..." Question is: we submitted an I-864 six months ago when we filed the Adjust Of Status (I-485 AOS). Why do they ask for that again? Thanks
  4. Did that. No mention of docs needed for K2 if subbmit at the same time with K1. I-864 instructions (1st page, General filling Instructions, 2nd paragraph): "You must submit an affidavit of support for each applicant for immigrant status. You may submit photocopies of this affidavit for any spouse or children immigrating with an immigrant you are sponsoring. For purposes of this form, a spouse or child is immigrating with an immigrant you are sponsoring if he or she is: 1) listed in Part 3 of this affidavit of support; and 2) applies for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status within 6 months of the date this affidavit of support is originally completed and signed...." This makes no sense if I attach a photocopy of I-864 (for K2) in the same package along with the original I-864 (for K1) along with the rest of docs. Unless AOS for K2 is filled separately, but within 6 month as stated, then photocopy of I-864 is attached. If you had filed OAS for K2 in the past, what did you do? Thx
  5. Quick question... Filling AOS (I-485) for K1 and K2... Submitting a host of supporting documents (I-864, tax returns, etc.) for K1... Do I need to include a complete (duplicate) set of the documents which already included with a K1 Plan to just submit 2 I-485's (one for K1 and one for K2) and just one set of supporting documents. Is it ok? of course separate I-94's, visa's, and passport... Thx
  6. Quick question... Anyone know if INS/CIS (or whatevet it's called) prefers single or double-sided photocopy of attachements (i.e. tax return, and such)? Thx
  7. Got a question on changing name officially... 1) Wife came on k1 under the name of May Maiden (for sake of discusstion) 2) Obtained SSN under the name of June Maiden 3) Marriage Certificate shows bridename=May Maiden She'd like to change her name to June MyLastName. How do we do this? Asked the county clerk and they said to take the Marrigage Certificate to DMV, Social Security Offce, bank, etc. and have it changed. I assumed this is the normal way, if only changing/adapting to MyLastName (is it?). But since she's changing both her first and last, how can we do this? Will this cause us any pain with INS when we file AOS (soon)? Thanks!
  8. Got copies of my IRS transcripts and w-2s in two working days after calling themlast week. Pleasantly surprised! Are you saying that I should get my copy of 1040 notizied and submit it as well? Don't really see much valua added after seeing the transcripts, other than to impress the VO with lots of "evidents"... :-)
  9. Looking at your timeline, you have at least six to nine month's time ahead of you for p3/p4. But it never too early to od research and ask questions.. As for NVC, you MAY receive a notice when they're finished with your case and forward it to GZ. Some people did receive the NVC notice, some didn't... 4 to 6 months at NVC is typical, then the dreaded GZ. More than 2 months for p3 is typical here. p3 to p4 is another month or two. Then interview (one month?)... Your journey has just begun, enjoy the ride ;-)
  10. Rob, Here you go. Info is in my signature. Hope it's not to late...
  11. Trying to gather materials for the k1 interview... One year tax return (1040): Do I need to have this Notizied? Normally, I'd write a paragraph on a sheet of paper stating that the copy is exact/unaltered of the original... But, by definition, we only keep the copy for ourselves. Original sent to IRS. If it need to be notizied, do I say "copy of a copy"? And to complicate thing a little more, if you filed electronically, then what? Also, I'll make copy of my passport and citizenship certificate. Do these need to be notizied as well? One notizization per copied doc?
  12. Long_strider, Got your PM. thanks. I post here so that other may benefit... My MM did you you suggested a couple of days ago. The GZ/GD Notary Office refused. She got a letter from her neighborhood district office and took it over to Notary and they again refused this morning, GZ time. They then suggested her to get a letter from her place of employment, which she did, and they finally accepted it. The Marital Status Certificate can be picked up early next week. Thank you all for inputs!
  13. My fiancee, lives in GZ, was told by the Notary Office in GZ that they do not have to authority to issue the Marital/Non-Marital Certificate since they really don't have the record/history of the person trying to get the certificate. That task is left to the local/neighborhood office where the person lives since they control what's going on in their district. I know the Notary Office in GZ can issue the Notized Divorced Certificate (translated to English), as we have gotten it. But the Marital Certificate... If one has never been marry, perhaps the Notary office can do this? We are talking about two different certificates here, right? Just want to be sure...
