  1. Were you were referring to Qian Xuesen?
  2. Depending on your in-laws this might be a con.
  3. The China Iron and Steel Association is asking Chinese steel companies and traders to stop buying iron ore for two months from Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Vale.
  4. I assume he's talking about the modern Chinese female who wants a partner who is taller than them, better educated, has a better job, money, and a apartment. Which is not exclusive to Chinese females. As China gets richer, it's females will become more like their Western counterparts.
  5. China is a man's world, but it's not all gold for them. A Chinese man is expected to pay for everything. Don't have enough money to pay the bride price, and buy an apartment, no marriage for you. And nowadays the cost of an average wedding (photos, banquet, honeymoon etc), in the big cities is the same as an American wedding. Many are marrying later in life because they have to save up the money. And many still have to be financially helped out by their parents. It doen't affect us as much because most of us are earning Western wages.
  6. Yes, the US have a lot of problems they need to fix. As long as the CCP are in charge, China will never have a financial system like the US, it will stay a command enconomy. The Chinese sytem however is not perfect eg bad loans, housing bubble, sharemarket etc. But the fact it is a command enconomy means that the CCP can put out financial fires more easily than the US can.
  7. WHY should China care for USA interests ? usa is destroying itself, why should we help? I'm no economist but from what I can understand, the world economy is so interconnected nowadays and the US is such a big player, that if anything bad happens in the US everyone is going to be in trouble. In other words we're all in the same boat, if it springs a leak it doesn't matter if you're on the lower deck or upper deck, if the leak is not plugged we're all going down. PS A lot of US home loan lenders should to be sent to jail.
  8. It's funny how Chinese and Americans can be so a like sometimes. Both love their countries, warts and all. Try having a rational discussion with your Chinese spouse about Taiwan or Tibet. or Cuba,Panama, Mexico, PRVN,Guam,Okinawa and Texas. I'm probably opening up a can of worms by doing this, but for intellectual reasons. Cuba - Castro? Panama - ? Mexico - ? PRVN - Is this Vietnam? If it is, then I assume the Vietnam war? Guam - ? Okinawa - ? Texas - ?

  10. Stern Hu was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
  11. Well, I am not so sure about that. But my brother, my sister-in-law and her family faced a similar situation. My sister in law was giving birth to their first child and she had complications during the birth. Doctors came out and said they might be able to save 1 of them and gave the family members 1 minute to decide which one had priority. Her family insisted on saving the child. They chose the child over their own daughter, mainly because they felt that would be what their daughter would want. As TLB said, most moms would want the kids saved first. Its generally our culture for kids to be put first in many things. This has caused quite a few arguments between me and my wife. Tough call. In the above situation, I would probably save my wife, unless she verbally instructed me otherwise. In Jin's scenario, I would probably choose my child. If my wife was in my position, I hope she would save our child from drowning.
  12. Not sure if this is of any use to you. But here's some info. "Health Insurance For Expats In China" http://www.startinchina.com/shenzhen/life/...s_in_china.html
  13. Sorry to be a spelling nazi. It's spelt Sydney.
