  1. Don't you realize how lucky you are!? Christmas AND New Years AND Chinese New Years are almost back to back to back. It is not about one person celebrating the other's culture. It is each embracing both as his/her own. It is what makes our relationships unique and special. just as few mindless thoughts bob
  2. Only problem.... been there 3 times in the past year and I was not going for the interview. We had been working so hard to get the interview and then everything happened so quickly. Never really expectly this. Should have expected to meet Mr. Murphy :> So, she is there trying to deal with it her herself....
  3. Is it possible there is some kind of collusion between those people selling there visa services outside and workers inside? Excuse me if this is a very rude or stupid question.
  4. We received our Packet 4 some 2 weeks ago, but unfortunately there were no forms inside (ds-156; ds-157; ds-230; ds-156k). I went ahead and downloaded the ds-156 and ds-157 for her off the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai web site and the ds-230 and the ds-156k off the Dept. of State web site. Now she is in Guangzhou and some are telling her these are not good enough and that she can fail because these are the wrong forms. Moreover, that there is some kind of scam between the folks outside and some of the workers inside. (true? not true?) As you can tell from below we have been waiting for a LONG TIME! Do I need to be on the next plane to Guangzhou or is this needless worry? I am not worried about other documentation and have already been there several times. Any advice will be welcome! Thanks!!!! My Time Line(K-1 visa): March,26, 2002 - 1st NOA April 24 , 2003 - 2nd NOA August 1, 2002 - receiced package #3 August 14, 2003 - mailed package #3 Name Check cleared - May 9, 03 package #4 - May 18, 2003 Interview data - VERY early June, 2003 Visa received - ???
  5. Well, I found this site late but it was a great help! 3/20/02 applied for visa 8/02 sent in Packet 3 4/10/03 application resubmitted to DOS 5/6/03 application approved AND received by Guanzhou 6/02/03 interview scheduled If you have any suggestions, don't be shy! Didn't we already do a ds-156? Does she need a ds-157? to those who have helped, thanks much. To those few I have been able to help, hope it assisted.... take care
  6. Have you considered booking a room in Kaiping or some other city perhaps 1 to 2 hours from GZ by bus. Not sure how far Taishan would be (a smaller fishing village would be.) The cities are often nicer, less crowded, more interesting and much less expensive during the trade shows. Amazing... many of these trade shows are cancelling, but the rooms are not being discounted. Different mind set. Just something to consider? bob
  7. Hi there, There are a group of us who are equally as much a black hole group and we DON"T EVEN HAVE A NAME! Yes, we are fiance deprived and name deprived. The consulate stopped its process of interviews first and then sending for clearance, but still some of us had our clearances sent in September and are still waiting. We haven't even had an interview yet <sobbing and moaning>. ...and not even a name to call our own. No DOS clearance, no interview, no cool black hole name.... BUT lots lots of patients, lots of love, and getting more aggresive in approach by the day. bob/gui (and being a newbie, yes it IS GOOD TO READ to the old posts.).. plus it is nice to know that others have shared the same.
  8. Actually, I knew the moral all too well. Just didn't wanna hit ya over the head with it. Just wanna hit them over the head with it sometimes. Do you believe these folks? Ah... alas
  9. Many years ago I had a yugoslavian girlfriend (this was well before the problems with yugoslavia). Her parents did not like the fact that she was with an American and called the police. I was there teaching and had no real status. The police called me in and questioned me. Afterwards I immediately went to our consulate for help. They replied: "We can't help you unless you get into REAL trouble". I sighed in relief and said, "Ok, then, what can you do for me if I get into the real trouble?". The American (I really don't remember how high up or down the food chain he was) looked back at me and staring straight into my eyes said, "We CERTAINLY CAN'T help you if you get into REAL trouble!" The moral? Yugoslavia? Guangzhou? Consulates the same? uh... Actually there is no moral. Just something to help amuse those of us at 13 months and still waiting to get our loved ones here. Ps.. It really happened. True story. But the police cared less and there was no problem in the end. Only a stupid parent of an EX-girlfriend bob/gui
  10. My warmest congratulations! Best wishest! Bob and Gui
  11. Hi again, Working on dealing with: 1) 7 months of US not finishing clearance check (which y'all have given great advice) ...but I do have a couple of questions. a) How in the world can you get through to an American consulate official in GZ? Considering we have alreading been waiting for more than a year, once the US says YES, how can we best shepherd this through so <screaming> we can be together again!!!!!!!!!!! bob 3/17/02 Initial Application Mailed 8/17/02 Packet 3 Mailed 4/0?/03 HELP?
  12. Having been a member of many political and activist groups from the 60's through today, I can tell you that the downfall of many of the groups is that they lose focus. I am a new member here and what first impressed me was how on target the comments and postings were. There is a purpose to this forum: Bring Loved ones here! Nothing else! There are a myriad of other places to discuss endlessly the political topics of the day. Just my 2 cents worth bob
  13. To all, Thanks much for all the input! In 12 hours you have been more help than I could have hoped for. A quick update. This morning spoke to CA and was told that GZ HAD ACTUALLY sent in my papers back in Sept. (I am stunned) and that the case is still pending (the woman seemed stunned). She had no idea and was kicking it upstairs to her boss and asking me to call back in 2-3 weeks if they had not called me back. bob
  14. Hello, I am new to your site. It appears that my fiance and I have been waiting a ridiculously long time for our interview. We returned our Packet 3 in August of 2002 and can get NOTHING from them except that they are still waiting for an answer. 5 days ago my fiance was able to get through to the consulate by phone and was asked why she didn't come to her interview. She said that she hadn't received anything. So I faxed, federal expressed, and emailed a request for a new date. But upon a follow up call AND a call from me, we were BOTH told that there had been no interview scheduled and that they had not received the clearance back from the states yet. I really can not believe this. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS WHO TO SPEAK TO??????? Bob
