  1. Dan, I know what you meant. haha... when I was in China, my best friend and I always hold hands walking together, but that was when we were in school... now that we have grown up, and got married, we don't really hold hands like before.. My husband always jokes about females holding hands too..
  2. Congratulations, Mrs. Gravestey! There is another one of us on the way to be a new mom, I'll let her announce the news herself Such a good timing to finish your school! What are you studying? Congrats, Mrs. Gravestey!! How many weeks are you? When is your due date? My due date is in January, 2015. I am very excited, but anxious being a first time parent. I came to the US in early, 2010, and I have enjoyed all kind of food, American, Mexican, Indian, Greek.....and now I only want authentic Chinese food. I realized how deep my Chinese root is... I have been homesick a lot ever since I am pregnant. A big culture shock I noticed over this weekend, my in-laws came by our house to visit, my mother-in-law and I started talking about the baby, she mentioned that when she had her baby ( my hubby), she didn't get any help, she said her mother visited her and the baby the day they got home from the hospital, and then left in an hour... I explained to her that in China, most of mother-in-law and mother would stay for a few weeks to help out with the newborn and new mom, the new mom will be confined to bed for the whole month...after hearing what I said, she was very shocked...not to mention when I told her that we can't shower or wash hair for at least two weeks.
  3. Beachey, Congrats on your wife's pregnancy!!! How's she feeling these days??? I missed Chinese food so bad........by the way, My due date is in 01/2015. I recently applied for B2 for my mom in Shenyang Consulate, the only thing the visa officer asked is my invitation letter, after she read my letter, she told my mom that she's approved. I was surprised that the visa officer didn't ask any finance related to my mom at all. Congrats again!!! Ruby Crimany, we must be doing something wrong... well keep trying. Congratulations to yours Beachey and Ruby's baby announcments!! Thank you, Dennis. Here's my invitation letter if you'd like to see: Dear Visa officer, My name is xxx. My husband, xxx, and I would like to invite my mother, (name) -passport no. xxx, to visit us here in the US in December 2014 to celebrate Christmas, and Chinese New Year together. She will be staying with us during her visit at our home that is located at xxxx (home address) I came to the US in January 2010 through K-1 Visa. My husband and I got married in xxx, MS, on 03/20/2010. I started working for Mississippi Department of xxxx as a (job title) since 11/01/2010. My annual income is xxx. I became a US Citizen at U.S. District Court in Jackson, MS on 01/23/2014. My naturalization certificate No. is xxx. I have not visited my family in China since I came to the US, because I have been busy working and adjusting to the lifestyle in the US. I really hope my mom could join us for Christmas and New Year’s in the US. We will pay all the expenses for my mom’s round trip ticket, living, and traveling in the States. It will be my mom’s first trip to the US. We will try to make her feel as comfortable as possible to experience the life here in the States. My mom is currently retired and operating a daycare with my sister, which is the reason that she couldn’t stay long with us in the States. Your kind consideration to this request will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, signature ---- P.S. My mom said after the visa officer read my letter, and said she is approved, she also said to my mom " so you missed your daughter's wedding " my mom said yes. It makes me feel very grateful that the visa officer cares and feels for my mom, and understand how much a mother misses her daughter. Anyway, I wish you the best luck too.

  11. Just want to share my excitment with you guys, I finally became a U.S. Citizen a week ago. It took about 9 months from filing to oath ceremony. My in-laws are extremely proud of me becoming an American Citizen, and people even started calling me " Ms. America" I can't wait for more good things happen in 2014. I wish everyone have a happy new year, and best wishes!!! God bless us all.
  12. haha, that is cute. I can't say it for all women, but at least for me, I tend to remember things, not just clothes, but also dates, events....It is a habit of mine, I try to be more indepentant, so I don't have to rely on people.
  13. Congrats on passing the interview, Mick and Li. It seems the process over there is much faster than my area. I had my fingerprint done in the beginning of June, and now it is the middle of July, I still have not got anything from USCIS. Congrats to you guys again! Ruby
  14. I am a Chinese girl, and this is my 3rd year living in Mississippi since I came to America. I feel very loved by friends, co-workers, and my husband's family ( my husband is white ), even random people I met in Grocery store or restaurant are very nice. This is also my 3rd year working for a state government agency in America, I am the only Asian in this agency, I realize that I do get a lot of attention because I am foreign, but I don't feel discriminated at all, instead, they think Asians are really smart and pretty I am sorry for your wife's situation, help her make some local Chinese friends, and of course meet some of your friends, help her to know that it is not her problem/being Asian, we are all human beings, unique and different, but it doesn't make some are better than others. I would like to talk to your wife, if I can be any help, or just a friend to talk to. Ruby
  15. I didn't get the 3rd party affidavit for I-751 and I got approved without interview, greencard in hand now. Good luck to you!
  16. Congrats to you! I got email from USCIS yesterday that they ordered production of my new card and will mail it to me within 30 days, no interview needed. ( My 2-year GC has no interview either). Good luck to everybody who is in this process God bless everyone. Ruby
  17. Is there anybody filed for 10-year greencard in May, 2012? Have you received your 10-year GreenCard? I had my fingerprint taken on 06/04/12 and since then, I have not heard anything.... My two-year GreenCard is going to expire by the end of July, so I can not get my license without the new 10-year GreenCard (they won't give me 4-year driver's license) I did check the status on-line, it says " initial review" which does not tell anything.... I just wonder how long does it usually take to receive the 10-year GreenCard? Any help is appreciated Thanks, Ruby
  18. I came to US by holding K1 visa on Jan. 17th 2010 and got married on Mar. 20th. My I-94 will expire on Apr. 17th. But until now I still haven't got my marriage certificate yet. This is so frustrating. I don't know what is the health department doing. They said the business day will be 7-10 days. But it has been over 12 days, and we still havn't receieved the marriage certificate yet. My question is "Is it necessary for us to send AOS documents off within 90 days (before the I-94 gets expired) even if we haven't recieved the marriage certificate" or "Should we wait till we get our marriage certificate and then send it off (But I-94 form might get expired)" Any advice will be appreciated Thanks a lot V.
  19. WOW, Congrats!!!!Such a GREAT news!! Wish you have a safe trip and a happy life!

  21. hey, robert Do you know how long it will take for marriaged couple to get the certified copy of the marriage certificate? We are waiting for sending AOS application off soon. Thanks V We got married at the Courthouse in Florida and got our marriage certificates on the spot. We got married in church, I don't know if it will take longer time. 22. hey, robert Do you know how long it will take for marriaged couple to get the certified copy of the marriage certificate? We are waiting for sending AOS application off soon. Thanks V It all depends on where you get married, some places like Las Vegas you can get it when you turn in the executed marriage license. Others like Hawaii can take WEEKS to get. Here in NY State, we had ours 2 days after marriage, in the mail. Again you should make a photo copy of the certificate and send the photo-copy in with the I-485, and KEEP the original certificate or certified copy for your records. Thanks very much, Don. we got married on Mar. 20th in a church and we are still waiting for the marriage certificate.Hopefully it will come soon. Thank very so much for the reply.
