  1. So the I-693 form was sent out to our civil surgeon, and she says that my wife needs an MMR, Varicella, and HPV vaccination. The HPV involves 3 shots that need to be given over a 6 month time period! She had her first MMR and Varicella shot in China, but they never told her she needed to get the next series of shots when she got here. So, the question is, now what do we do? Can we get the I-693 filled out anyways with the current information? If we have to wait, do we need to file anything for her to stay until we can file it?
  2. Found the local civil surgeon (only 100 miles away lol) and they said we could mail everything to them and they would take care of it. Here's the problem - the only I-693 form I could find on the net expires on August 31, 2009, and that's from the uscis.gov website! Submitted an order for the form via mail, let's see what happens
  3. Ok, wedding went great and we are belatedly getting started on all of this. Should my wife use her maiden name, or my last name which she wants to start using? We just opened a joint checking and savings account with her using my last name, and she doesn't plan on using her Chinese family name anymore...
  4. Ok, so we have a little yellow book called the "International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis." I am assuming we just need to send this and an I-693 to a civil surgeon? Should I be able to find one locally, or do I need to get in touch with Dr. Arnold in Austin?
  5. Perfect, this is exactly what I was looking for. Am I correct in assuming that we need to be married before submitting these?
  6. Hello, Rather than trust the often confusing and conflicting information on the government websites, I would appreciate it if anyone with experience could help with a brief overview of what we need to do next. We were so focused on the K1 process that I'm feeling a little unprepared for the next steps. So far I know we need a I-485 and I-864, which required 3 years tax returns. Anything else? Do we need to wait until we are married to fill these out? Thanks everyone, it's been a hectic few days since Limei got here, my brain is scrambled, and some direction would be much appreciated. Cheers, Chad P
  7. Thanks everyone, and yes, it is better to be prepared than get a blue slip! Couple of interesting notes, it was really late when I started this thread - Mr. Yang told Limei that since we had both never been married before her chances were very good for getting the Visa. He was very helpful and let her use his computer, although he wanted to charge 1 yuan per page for printing (that's fair, he's not running a print shop). Since she wanted to print about 100 pages of chat histories she did it somewhere else. He went through her paperwork with her and told her how to organize it, and told her at the interview to look the VO in the eye when answering questions. He also had her go to a Kodak shop to print our pictures again, he said the ones she had were low quality and the VO's might think we had photoshopped them. Normally we don't print our pictures, I just keep them on my computer. So she did that as well. When she went to turn in my I-134, they told her they already had it on file. I have no idea what they were talking about, and neither does she, but she just said ok, and here is the co-sponsor form as well. Again, no comment from the consulate person, just took the forms and moved her along the chain. I can only imagine how Limei felt through all of this. I had prepped her with the 95 questions here on CFL, told her to act professional if she meets some problems, and here it was a walk in the park for her (other than the heat and crowds). This whole process has moved amazingly quickly for us. I don't have a detailed timeline since I just joined CFL, but here's a rough estimate: Jan 20 - filed petition March 25 - petition approved Some blah blah (Limei's word when she doesn't know something June 12 - submitted checklist for interview date June 19? - interview appointment received July 30 - interview Total time is only 6 months!!! My heart goes out to the people here who have had extreme difficulty in getting their Visa's, but I am eternally grateful that we didn't have any problems.
  8. Limei got her pink slip today, first try. She had very little to say about the whole process other than that everything went smoothly. The VO asked where I lived, what we both did for work, looked briefly at her pictures, and gave her the pink slip. Weeks of worry for nothing!
  9. What is this evidence of relationship letter I keep hearing people talk about? Is this required, or just part of the "kitchen sink?"
  10. Right, that will help, but not exactly what I'm asking. I understand that a lot of it is up to what the interviewer asks for, but aren't there a few steps prior to her getting to the interview that are a little more objective?
  11. More info: K1 Visa application, with co-sponsor I-134. Thanks
  12. Hello, I am helping Limei go through her forms so she is well prepared for the interview. Can you guys with some experience help us out with the order she should pack things in? For example, the first thing she needs is the interview invitation letter, then she will need her passport copy, etc. etc. I want her things in order so she doesn't have to look to hard for any one thing. Thanks, you guys rock!
  13. Hi, Thank you for posting this detailed story, it is both encouraging and intimidating at the same time. May I ask, was the passport supposed to be copied ahead of time, or is this something that is only done at the interview? Thanks!
  14. Hello, Limei is making her arrangements for her trip to GUZ next week and we heard something startling from one of the hotel owners- does she need to stay in GUZ until the Visa is mailed? I thought she was to pay for an EMS mailing back to Beijing once the interview is successfully (hopefully) completed. Also, I wanted her to stay with the Yangs, but she made a reservation with a Mr. Zhao. Does anybody know this gentleman? She hasn't sent any money yet, so I think she could still change it... I've just heard the Yangs mentioned so many times here I was hoping they could help her prepare for the interview. As always, you guys here are awesome!
