  1. So wonderful, Bob! I am so happy for the two of you! Bob, could you please "PM" me (or post, if appropriate) the DOS phone # you call for help. It's still "early" for me, but if I ever have problems reaching GZ, it sure would be nice to have the phone number. Thanks for all your help. And again, I am so happy for you!
  2. This week I decided to call EMS to verify that my P3 forms were actually delivered to GZ. (I sent them via EMS on 3/17.) After many calls, here's what I found out. My package was delivered on 3/18 to the White Swan Hotel located at No. 1 Southern Street. (The U.S. Consulate is located at No. 1 Shamian South Street.) Because I wrote in Chinese when I completed the EMS mailing label, I thought for sure my package was delivered to the wrong address. (The Chinese characters for "South" and "Southern" are the same.) So I called the White Swan Hotel to find out what happened to my package. You won't believe this! The person at the hotel told me that they regularly receive and sign for mail addressed to the U.S. Consulate. The hotel just accumulates the mail until someone comes by and picks it up. If this is true, is it any wonder that mail addressed to GZ sometimes gets lost or misplaced? And why in the world doesn't GZ have a secured lock box for ALL its mail? Perhaps this is "old news" to many of you, but it is very upsetting to me. B)
  3. I'm getting ready for my medical exam next week and notice that some of the forms require my case number. The letter my husband received from the NVC shows my case number. And so does the P3 letter from GZ. But here's the problem: The numbers are not the same. Both numbers start out the same ... GUZ2003xxxxxx ... but the last six digits are different. So which number do you think I should use? Also, one of the forms asks for my alien (case) number. Above my name on the I129F approval notice is a number that begins with "A" ... Axx xxx xxx. Is this my alien number? Do you think I should use this number or my case number on that form? I know this question is very unique, but if anyone can help me, I would be most grateful. Thanks!
  4. You're all just the best!!!! A BIG thanks to each and every one of you. And a very special thanks to Myles. I'll be in touch for sure.
  5. How wonderful! How beautiful! I am so happy for you!
  6. Once I get my visa, my husband wants us to honeymoon in Hawaii for a week or so before continuing on to the mainland. But because there are no nonstop flights from Shanghai to Honolulu, we first must fly to Osaka or Tokyo and then continue on to Honolulu. Can we do this? Or must we take one of the nonstops directly from Shanghai to America (such as to San Francisco, Los Angeles or Chicago) and then backtrack to Honolulu? So I guess I have two questions: (1) Must we fly nonstop to America? (2) Can we enter the United States thru the Honolulu POE? As always, I want to thank all of you for your invaluable help. I am so grateful to all of you.
  7. I read your profile and began to cry. PJ, you will find someone special who is deserving of you. And you will bask in a "sunshine of happiness." God bless you!
  8. Yes, one of the forms I saw on Richard Sun's website did ask this question about who would be attending with me. (That's why I was so surprised to get your responses that my husband could not attend.) However, the version of the form GZ sent me did not have this question. Anyway, it sounds like it's pretty much just "show up, smile and cooperate." Thanks again so very much for helping me relax about all this.
  9. It would make me feel so much better if my husband could be by my side during the K3 interview. I know you've told me not to worry about the interview, but just having him next to me for moral support would really help. Is this allowed? Or must I go it alone? Thank you so much for your help over the past week. Let's all pray for peace on earth.
  10. EMS just picked up my forms for GZ. I went ahead and included my address on the forms in BOTH Chinese and English and also completed BOTH the Chinese and English pages. But on future forms, I think I'll probably do just one language ... probably English. Thanks so much to all of you!
  11. I am so happy for you! May you enjoy each other forever and ever.
  12. Thanks so much for the quick response Eric & Yuhui. As you know, it's Sunday noon here and I want to get these forms to GZ in the morning. I'm going to EMS them to GZ (rather than use their enclosed small envelope). This way I can track it. Thanks again!
  13. I don't want to sound stupid here, but am I supposed to complete BOTH the Chinese AND the English pages of the forms that have both languages? Or can I just complete EITHER the Chinese OR the English pages (my choice)? For example, the Optional Form 169 is really a 6-page booklet with 3 of the pages in English followed by 3 more pages of the same form in Chinese. Should I complete and sign ALL 6 pages? I appreciate the Chinese for sure, but the instructions do not tell me exactly what to do here. I almost want to complete every form, regardless of the language, just to be safe. It's great to be a member of this forum. Thanks again!
  14. I received all of the forms listed in Bob & Guiping's post (immediately above this reply) PLUS the following: A listing of CITIC Industrial Bank branches (no form #) - English on one side and Chinese on the other Medical Examination Instructions (GIV-8) - English on one side and Chinese on the other For Applicants 16 Years and Older (DS-157) - English on one side and Chinese on the other - two copies of this form Medical History and Physical Examination Worksheet (DS-3026) - One form in both English and Chinese New Requirement for Nonimmigrant Visa Application Photos (NIV GUZ 02/21/03) - English on one side and Chinese on the other Thanks again to all of you for your comments and kind words.
  15. Sorry for yet another question. I sincerely do appreciate all of you who take the time to help me. I'll also help others whenever I can. Here's my question. As some of you know, my Packet 3 arrived today. Included are some medical forms. Can I go to one of the designated hospitals now and get the examination out of the way? Or must I do it between receipt of Packet 4 and my interview in GZ? I'd much rather get it off my mind ... one less thing. Thanks again to all of you!
  16. Packet 3 arrived today! It came in a large brown envelope (not EMS). It was mailed on Tuesday, March 11 (Day #12). As some of you already know, NVC told me to allow GZ 10 business days. So even though it didn't arrive until today, I am delighted. I plan to send the first two forms back to GZ via EMS on Monday. I was so worried it would be weeks or even months before I would hear from GZ. Thanks so much to those of you who take the time to share your experiences and advice with me. Blessings to all from China!
  17. Thanks to those who responded. Any thoughts about the most effective way to contact GZ?
  18. How long does the interview last? Is it like being in a courtroom on the witness stand? Is it formal or informal? Is it question after question after question? Is it "look over every document" and ask detailed questions? Please tell me about your experiences. Thanks so much!
  19. A warm "Hello" to everyone. Thanks so much for reading my message. Here's my timeline for a K3 visa: NOA1 (for I130) - 1/8/2003 NOA1 (for I129F) - 1/23/2003 NOA2 (for I129F) - 2/10/2003 National Visa Center: Received I129F - 2/17/2003 Forwarded to Guangzhou - 2/24/2003 As you can see, things have moved right along. The NVC told me to allow 10 business days before contacting Guangzhou (which was this past Monday, 3/10). I decided to give it one more week. So this coming Monday (3/17) will be three weeks with no word from Guangzhou. Is e-mail the best way to contact Guangzhou? And what's your "best guess" timeline for me from here on out? My approval notice is good until 6/8/2003. Any and all suggestions, comments, advice, etc. you can share with me about Guangzhou will be SO VERY MUCH appreciated.
