  1. I would think the vast majority of people on both sides are looking for a legitimate relationship. I know many happy couples. But, video chatting is best. It sure beats pen palling from the old days. Going to China is a great way to meet the family and relatives of the interested party. And of course a fiancee Visa is great way for the prospective to meet your family before marriage. Several trips are good considering what a large undertaking marriage is. And most parts of China are interesting. Definetly try for three weeks if at all possible.
  2. I got an easy one. My wifes conditional green card expires in FEB 2010. Instead of getting the new 8 year unconditional I was thinking about the citizenship. But her current card might expire while waiting on citizenship? She has been here married for 3 years and speaks awfully good english. Is there an expiration issue for green cards while processing citizen? thanks, Charles and Li.
  3. We did a 129F before the imbra days. Normal timeline (10months) plus three for employment info Blueslip (really an extra security check). It took us 13 months for a Visa. 10/2005-11/2006. Her interview was easy until she mentioned employment involving oil and electronics. The blue slip left her crying for days. The lack of info was what hurts. If they would just tell you its an extra security check it wouldnt be so bad. Lots of emails to GUZ. We filed the 485 in 12/2006. 14 months later to green card. And after hitting up a US rep.
  4. Li li's AOS has been in California for over one year. We contacted Senator Lincoln Davis from TN in January. They sent a letter to CA asking for expedition of process. We were contacted by email several weeks later by the Senators office, saying the contact in CA (Laguna) would adjudicate the case. We got the official welcome letter on its way and green card on its way notices from CRIS. We havent received the welcome letter just yet. It seems like we get to bypass the interview in Memphis maybe. I guess we were a part of the FBI's 47000 name hit backlog. I hope someone has to testify about that someday in congress. Thats a lot of peoples lives. Lili started reading the driving handbook again. Driving soon, with a green card. FYI Sincerely Yours, Charles and Li.
  5. Dont forget to file for an Advanced Parole(131) and work permit at the same time. While waiting on the green card the advanced parole allows for travel. Good luck.
  6. Such a sweet statement. You let this person into the US and now you are wondering about them. Uhhhh, the security checks at the embassy should have defined this already. And poor Li got extra checks for mentioning oil and electronics in the interview. She has been checked pretty thoroughly. So it does seem pretty silly in this situation. What is even more astounding is not telling us about the delay. We had to find out after waiting a long time and calling. USCiS shoudl tell us what is happening each step of the way. It is obscene to in the dark so much. Very poor customer service. Once again, good point my friend. Sincerely Yours, Charles and Li
  7. does that mean if you filed a 485 in 12/06 and have the receipt notice you can file the 765 free now 12/07??? Is the renewal of the 131 a fee involved? Ours will expire in January. We are stuck in 485 security check. This creates lots of new question. Sincerely Lili and Charles
  8. We did the dual file with Advanced parole to Chicago. We got a Biometric apointment. Went to that. Got an advanced parole paper thereafter. Never any indication where our 485 "was". Though I would assume its in Memphis, the nearest interviewing center? I dont know much, and the phone number I call knows less. A sad state of affairs. Caught in a name check or something. I just found a link showing recent interview times at memphis are out of this world. Bummer Thanks, Lili and Charles. From the Recipt letter for the I-485, look up case status for the I-485 on USCIS website, it should tell you if it went to California or to your local office. https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do THe USCIS just says it was transferred. Not to where. """The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you.""" Same when I called. Very disappointing. Sincerely Yours, Lili and Charles We called two weeks ago and convinced the rep on the phone that we were past our due date. 1 year and waiting on the 485. We got the letter today saying our case is in Laguanua California on the security check. Real bummer. Sincerely, Lili and Charles
  9. Does she know any of his relatives. Maybe some of them could help her out with housing and legal matters. My relatives would have freaked if I brought a woman over from half way around the world and didnt marry her. Wow, they would disown me. I think its important for people to meet someones relatives. I met Lili's and made sure she had contact with mine prior to arrival. It certainly help with legitimacy.
  10. I included translated and notarised copies of her birth cert, household registry, ID card and passport, not necessary i agree, just figured maybe it would speed things up at the embassy end. I sent the 364 with on the initial mailing. They never asked Lili for it during the interview. That may not be standard practice. We also sent a CD of the two trips to china along with pictures. Also, extra photo's in case something happened to one. IF you feel triple fancy I hear a two hole pattern punched on the top is swell. The government uses a top down binder. I remember sending birth certificates as well. Probably over the top. Lili got delayed at the interview when they asked about employment. She mentioned oil and electronics. 3 month delay. Other than that the interview went well. When Lili when to get the notary for no crime and no marriage and birth certificate I told her to get 4 copies of everything. Good luck. Depending on where you live when she gets to America dont forget to file for an Advanced Parole when applying for the green card. While the green card is in processing you can travel. It aint pretty otherwise. Sincerely Yours, Charles and Lili

  13. Does anyone know the current wait times for the immigration offices on green card interviews? We applied for a green card (485) and advanced parole in 12/06. Fiancee visa, got married and sent the paperwork at light speed. We used the advanced parole to go to Guatemala and Honduras and back. The Advanced parole will expire in 2 months. Lili is frustrated about not getting a green card yet. We believe Memphis has our interview. Calling the phone number yields little info. They wont even confirm the wait is for Memphis. The website posting for Memphis show 6 months delay for 485. However, one doesnt know when the particular 485 arrived. And worse there are 30 kinds of 485. All are waiting on the same 6 months? Some info would be kind. Waiting isnt so bad if you know for what. Thanks. Lili and Charles
