  9. For what it's worth, I think you are doing the right thing. Ignoring it would be very unlikely to work, I feel, because they are sure to compare the divorce date on the decree with the marriage date in China. At that point, I doubt it will matter that the computer contains a note saying the marriage was only commonlaw, I know a lot of government workers and they typically go by hard copy paper over a small computer note nearly 100% of the time. Even if it did somehow go through, doesn't all of this paperwork get forwarded to the VO? Imagine the VO's reaction when seeing these date discrepancies... I don't think mood would have anything to do with their denial.
  10. Unfortunately, it is not only my earlobes that are big, but the entire package... and worse yet, they don't rest flush with my head. Does this make me "extra lucky?" or merely "extra dumbo" I await your answer with trepidation...
  11. Ahhhh damn, Paula. I've been waiting hoping to hear good news from you... sounds like they are being unreasonable a**holes to you
  12. I've been searching for this info on the USCIS site and so far no luck... we just want to know how much time is allowed to stay in China after the Visa approval before she must come to the US. Any help is appreciated
  13. To me this issue totally depends on the couple, just because one person says its okay and another says its wrong doesn't mean much in a general sense. For me, in my own individual case which has no bearing on anyone elses my idea of marriage involves a close companion that is always there for me, and I am always there for them. If I go on a trip, she goes, and vise versa. My wife has the same attitude, that marriage is a compete joining of two lives, which we discussed before we were married. So, for us, because we want the same thing there is no conflict.
  14. Here's a funny story for you guys My brother taught in China, and the childrens textbook stated the following as fact: All Americans are fat, lazy, and wealthy. I'm not joking...
  15. You know Dennis, I always watch for your posts. Always interesting, often educational, sometimes innappropriate. Fun stuff
  16. I'm hearing this same stuff, Dennis. Especially about the unfriendliness of people in Shanghai. I asked her how she "knew" this, and was told that everyone says it
  17. You really sound like a wonderful person. You deserve happiness, I hope you find it.
  18. I have very similiar thoughts. Marry based on your intuition, compatibility, trust, and all these things can combine into true love. Then, once you make that leap into marriage, I believe it's best to consider the other person an extension of yourself, and you as an extension of them. We know we aren't perfect, and so we then give them that same leeway. If you are both parts of one "new" person, then the differences just contribute to what makes you unique! I think...
  19. Oh, poor Dennis... forced to accept the attention of a fan in place of your wife Maybe you should ask her to blow on you instead? Oh, I hope no one takes that wrong...
  20. If I am in China the preceding several months before the P3 is issued, and therefore the I-134 requested, and have no current employment (there is no way my employer will allow me to take such a long leave ) Then I understand I can use a co-sponsor. However, if the co-sponsor is retired, and also cannot provide proof of employment... granted, he does have a verifiable source of income, but still the instructions don't mention this. Has anyone else run into this? Thanks!
  21. I can't share any culture shock experiences as I am a USC, but I would like to say.. welcome to America!
  22. When I was in china, shaving with the water caused a nasty facial infection.. now my wife tells me she is going to shave me when we are together, to prevent me from "hurting myself" I have my doubts as to how that will turn out... but then again she didnt ask, she told, so what do I do?
