Profile Information

  • Location
    Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
  • Interests
Hunting, fishing, playing tennis, violin and piano. I repair autos, go to movies and out to eat. I've traveled to China twice in the last three years.
  1. My chinese wife has been in the USA now for five years. Her 17 year old son is still in China waiting to become 18 and immigrate to the USA. The problem is that his father will not allow the son to use the family registration or ID for the purposes of obtaining a copy of notarial birth certificate or any paperwork needed to secure a passport and eventual visa. I know that when we make application for my wife's son, the American Counselate will need a copy of the birth certificate (notarial). Upon applying for his chinese passport, they will also need a birth certificate copy and maybe even the family ID or family registration. The father will do everything that he can (regardless of son reaching 18) to keep him in China. Therefore, he will prevent any use of paperwork (no cooperation). Questions are how to get around that? Will the Counselate recognize this plight? We don't want to do anything illegal. My wife's son is quite the prodigy; wants to attend either Yale, Harvard or Princeton. He is now on the second to last year of high school in Xing'an China and is the number one student out of over 4000. We will, if successful direct him to MIT because his interests are in nuclear physics. If anyone knows some answers or had a similar situation, please get back to me. Send a PM
  2. I am a US citizen and my wife is chinese and with a permanent 10 year green card. Her son will be 15 years old on 2-26-2010. His father won't release him, so we have to make application for when he becomes 16 years of age. The question is when can I begin the paperwork? When do I actually file? I think I have to make application using the I-130, biometrics and such. I ask these questions because I had heard that you can file one year in advance of the son becomming 16 years old. Your answers are greatly appreciated! Mr Bill
  3. I am a US citizen and have a chinese wife by means of the K1 Visa. Her 13 year old son still lives in China. Is it possible for her son to get a visitors visa to travel to the USA to visit with us? I've heard that chinese parents can obtain a visa to visit the USA, Is this true? Steps to take?
  4. Hello, my friends on Candle: Rongjiao and I met all the conditions of her fiancee visa. We got into The USA from China on October 20, 2006. We married on December 16, 2006 and filed the AOS on January 4, 2007. She had until January 18, 2007. So far, we have not yet heard anything from the Chicago USCIS where we filed. My question is how to check the status of our case? Is there a way we can do this online? Your answers will be appreciated. A continuted "good luck" to all of you waiting for the process of love.
  5. Hello, Everyone! My fiancee Rongjiao and I spent three whole days in Green Bay, WI, our home before going trucking together. Rongjiao saw 18 different states in the 25 days we were gone. My company sent us to Texas and Florida. While in Florida we spent time at two beaches, bought a swim suit (great picture taking!). I can't believe it, but Rongjiao really liked traveling with me in our work van. We picked up and delivered 16 loads of freight in that time, made some good money and it was like a paid honeymoon! Now we are finally back at home and will continue the marriage license process. We will soon file the I-485 and the Travel permit I-131. I feel that I am the most luckiest man on earth! For kicks, we are going white-tailed deer hunting, staying in a nice little cabin in the north-west Wisconsin woods for Saturday and Sunday. In case anyone is wondering whether all the waiting is worth it: YES!!!!!
  6. Hello, Jim & Ying! Thank you for the congratulations! We are still in Guangzhou because the visa was not yet available at the China Post. Since our interview was a bit later, it's taking one more day to process. We have been instructed to pick up the visa in the morning at 9:00am (Saturday). This means one more night in hot Guangzhou! Yes! We very much want to meet with you two. You have hung in there with me and Roongy through this whole process and we really appreciate that kind of support. Everyone on this site particularly has been most informative and great. Bill & Rongjiao!
  7. Hello Folks! Rongjiao's interview was scheduled for 7:15am on October 11, 2006. The day prior, we realized that she did not have her notarial unmarried certificate. She flew from Guangzhou to Guilin and bussed to Xing'an where her three brothers had arranged for someone to issue the certificate. They stayed up all night long! Rongjiao arrived at the consulate after making a flight (nterview morning)from Guilin to Guangzhou. I was already at the consulate waiting and asking questions regarding her being late. She arrived at 10:05am. A lady with a yellow shirt almost came running up to Rongjiao outside when she saw Rongjiao with the big brown envelope. She led us inside the consulate and began going through Rongjiao's papers. Somehow, Rongjiao had lost the very precious CITIC Bank reciept for having paid the consular fees. Well, we paid them again! Rongjiao was very frantic during this time but managed a smile when all the needed information was in order with the help of the nice lady in yellow. Rongjiao went upstairs about 10:30am. I waited until 2:00pm for her to come out. Here she was, waving the paper, all smiles! She passed! Interview details: A woman (looked entirely american) asked question: Where does your fiance live? Answer: Wisconsin question: How many sisters and brothers does your fiance have? Answer: 7 sisters and 5 brothers. question: Does your fiance speak chinese? Answer: Some question: Do you speak english? Answer: Yes Statement by VO: I can see that your fiance has visited China three times! (she had my passport) Statement by VO: This file is very good! Question: Do you have photos? May I see them? VO comment: These are very nice! VO remark: Congratulations you have passed! It was quite obvious that the VO really liked the file as she held it up saying that it was really good! The photos seemed to have been a real plus! Both the VO and Rongjiao were in big smiles during the whole 4 minute interview! We observed that one couple did not get a pass because only one year of taxes had been submitted. For unknown reasons, other's did not pass either. Though we were late for the interview, the people there were kind and told me 'o problem". It was very busy, it seemed that every hour and a half a new 50 people line would form outside the consulate. We were there four hours in all. Thanks to all of you for your help in answering or commenting on my posts. They definitely have helped! Now, we have to manage how to get airline tickets one-way to the USA for October 19th. I'll post again for the purposes of how we managed that!
  8. Thank you for the information! My SO has already left for Guilin and will return to Guangzhou in the morning near 9:00. I imagine that it will take her another half hour to get to the consulate from the airport. Yes! I plan on being there very early to talk to someone. I keep hoping for the best! I stayed in Guangzhou to save a little money and besides, she will be able to get things done faster that way. My only job is to find and get to the consulate in the morning.
  9. Hello everyone! Upon picking up the sealed medical at the hospital today near 3:00PM, they had a check list. My SO and I had every bit of information except one, the notarial unmarried certificate. I had asked her if she had that and she said I have! Well, we don't! Now, she is on the jet from Guangzhou to Guilin and then bus to Xing'an to retrieve the certificate. She will get to Xing'an about 10:00 PM tonight where someone has agreed to furnish her with the needed certificate. My SO will take an 8:00AM flight from Guilin back to Guangzhou in the morning arriving here (I'm still here waiting in Guangzhou) around 9:00AM. Since her interview is scheduled at 7:15AM, she will be late! I'm going to be at the consulate and hopefully have talked with someone asking them to wait the few hours. Heck, I think they could do that for a five minute interiview! If anyone has any information that may help us, please let me know. I'll have enough trouble just getting on the metro, changing stations and making it to the consulate in the morning. Still hopefull, Mr Bill
  10. October 19th is when I am planning my return to the US. Ying will be coming back on the 31st, so I will be flying solo. My carrier is Continental to Newark, NJ, then on to San Antonio. What will you be flying, and if possible maybe we can meet for a cup of coffee before we leave on our respective flights. Hello, Carl! I'll likely fly using "uschinatrip.com". So far, the tickets are $837 from Guilin to Green Bay, WI. The airlines will likely be China Southern and United. A snag however! We picked up the medical envelope from the hospital today. They had a list and we found that my SO did not have the needed "Notarial Unmarried Certificate". Right now, she is on a jet from Guangzhou to Guilin where she'll bus to Xing'an and someone will wait for her to get her the certificate. The problem is that she will return on an 8:00AM flight that will arrive back here about 9:00AM. Her interview is scheduled for 7:15AM. She will be late. I'm going to the consulate early and try to stall them off, hopefully for only a few hours. My SO will meet me at the consulate, I'm only hoping that they still take her in for the interview. What the hell, those interviews are only a few minutes long! I'll be looking for you if you are flying out of Guilin. Mr Bill
  11. Hello, Everyone! Rongjiao and I are now in Guangzhou, will pick up the medical examination results this afternoon. So far, everything has gone off without a hitch. We are staying in the older section of town in a hotel that costs the equivalent of $18 USD per night. We have taken the "Metro" to the consulate yesterday and plan to do that again in the morning. We have planned the 30 minute, very fast ride to within a block of the consulate so will make the 7:15 AM schedule very well. Regarding any new questions or information about ex'es: I'm not sure whether my SO got the old or new letter, so she'll just have to wing it knowing her ex'es whereabouts and such. I don't think we'll have a problem if that is an issue because her son lives with her ex and they have good contact at least on a weekly basis. Her ex does not however, know what she is up to at this point! If all goes well, my SO and I will be flying back to the USA together on October 19. Getting one-way airline tickets might be a problem, but I guess we'll work that out as time deems necessary. I asked my SO to remember the questions so that I can post the results and information for other's so interested. Please wish us luck! Bill & Rongjiao
  12. Welcome to CFL and congratulations on your trip to China to see your sweetheart! I'm going to China in the morning too, from Green Bay, WI to Guilin. My SO has an interview 10-11-06 so I'm very excited and hope for a great outcome. If so, she will be returning with me! Good luck with this romantic adventure to you and yours'!
  13. I will definitely write that one down! Thank you very much! I can purchase tickets using uschinatrips.com, however the Beijing office will not allow a credit card!
  14. Hey, dont forget toothbrush, toothpaste, ........... You know, Great! I actually bought a new tube of tooth paste today for the trip. I've also placed those kinds of things in a quart-sized plastic zip-lock bag per airline recommendations to place on the conveyor! I'm also taking all my paperwork in my carry-on! Thank you and hope to meet you there somewhere! Good Luck at the interview. B) We will be in GUZ on the 9th through the 14th or 15th. Maybe see you there,
