  1. IMHO, Carl hit the nail on the head with his comment.

"This is fairly common for many Chinese women"

My wife is always very conscious of how much things cost. I have just grown to listen to how much "money finished" running the water too long, running the central heat and air at temperatures beyond her temperature, and even when bringing home fruit I get the "how much" question.

If it is something she needs or wants price is no subject, and often in this situation where there are 5 labels of the same product, the one that costs the most is the "best one," which the others will not substitute.

But, Mike, I think there is something other than the cost of items that may be happening. Possibly it is just nervousness of returning to China with family.

My wife gets worked up sometimes when we visit family in China since she is now married to the "Rich American." Often there have been times where family members confront her with the "could you help us out," or sometimes there is the needed "gift situation" for some family members. It does put a lot of pressure on her, and at times to the point she requests that I not visit where she fairs better alone. Then there is the whole "we get charged more because of me being American" scenario.

I usually take the sit back and have a beer, and play the "on her turf now, let her call the shots" routine.

Hard to tell sometimes what is going on in my wife¡¯s mind. I just go with the flow.

I hope your trip becomes less stressful.

  2. Holy Crap! 184 pictures? Really?

Man, the USCIS is tough these days.

It has been a while since filing the I-129f, but I remember going though loops to get it all in order. Reading for hours here on Candle and VJ, banging my head over and over at the information as it appeared to change on a daily basis. It does seem and can be very overwhelming. It took me 3 to 4 months to get it all into a position to send our petition off. That is how stressfull it was for me.

For us, I-129f Petition filing was just basic evidence for proof of on going relationship.

Later, AOS and Removal of Conditions were just follow the directions on all the forms.

    Looking back,

Just follow the directions on the I-129F form, and the directions on the forms it requires, which is all the USCIS wants.

As long as you and your fiance(e) meet the requirements there shouldn't be much to worry about.

I would agree with David, seems a bit overkill.

One, any additional information you give them, the more they have to evaluate.

    Two, why give them bullets?

Quality of evidence, not "quantity" is a good way of looking at it.

Evaluate your evidence on its quality.

    A side note.

With the auto-fill function on forms today, get everything together like you are going to send the petition off, wait 2 days without touching it, and then review every line of all the forms for any mistakes by following the instructions. The auto-fill can sometimes put in the wrong info. Just a thought.

Then before you send the Petition off, dig deep within your soul and ask yourself is this "have fate, without destiny" or not?

Once you know the right answer, either send it , or don't. ;)

    Eric

  3. I do think so.

Ever been to a "Get 'em Together."

    "Wo Lao gong...."

    "Ni Lao Gong..." :P

    But, yea. ;)

    Change of subject.

    "Chris Rock?" :D

Co worker watches too much TV.... eh, but so do I. :P

Not all women are like that, and it should be taken as no generalization.

But anyways, some things we see, or preceive to be similar.

I know Jie has said she wants me to have a girlfriend, she would like to meet her, but then she also makes clear that the "ha ha ha" (with karate gestures) are clear. :D

    Tim,

I think it is good that she told you what she told "Lina"

Even though, at least she told you.

You clearly see it made her uneasy.

    Write it down. ;)

  4. There are many complexities with this relationship that I didn't understand until now. I'm not quite sure why my gal think she needed "Lina",

Confidence... scared... insecure... security... pick any one and it will do.

I really don't think 'why' matters much... I think it was just the natural thing for her to do at the time.

    Tim,

There will be many times things don't make sense.

You came back after the Original Post saying you received "some clarification."

Interpretation of what is going on can be very difficult sometimes, trust me, I have been there many times.

I think David has a good point.

"I think it was just the natural thing for her to do at the time."

    David,

I have seen this many times in my own relationship.

Is it okay? Is it not okay?

Life seems to move on as if it were no big deal at times.

When it has happened, the result is not that we are going to die over the matter. In most cases it has a lot to do with.

    Geeezzzz..

Do I even dare say it.

    "Face"

    There, I said it.

    Is it Good/Bad?

Suppose what is right in your mind, life, or your beliefs would answer that.

    Tim,

I may be off on a tangent here. But have you ever had any conversations with your girlfriend regarding "Face?"

"Good face" or "No good face?"

Gifts, friends giving gifts.............. she not making the guesture first..

    I could see it, sure.

    Saving face.

Again, not that this has any relevance with your opening topic. Just sounds familiar. :o

I'm sure you are the "Prime Grade A Husbands" ......

Ask your girlfriend if "Lina can be wife #2, but be very clear first that she must only cook, clean, do dishes, and wash clothes...."

I am looney, don't listen to me.... I get all these weird visions too.

  5.

    Oh, nothing. :roller:

Whatever you take, "Made In USA" works well. It will be either "gooda face" or "no gooda face," but non the less.

You are a good man Dennis, I'm sure all will just be in awe of your presence.

Have a safe and wonderful visit.

    Eric

  6. I agree with Dan on the different depts.

MSC#s should be assigned, and I-485 will be sent to either your local USCIS, or CSC in some cases.

Not sure if they should all be received on the same day.

    Possibly just a coincidence.

    In our AOS CASE.

Our NOA1s all were recieved on the same day.

They were all in separate envelopes.

When you recieve the Biometrics Appt Letter, you can look to see if it has 2 MSC #s, one for the I-485, and the other for the I-765.

That's not to say that separate Biometric Appts will not happen.

No telling what the USCIS is up to or how they handle cases.

Even if one gives them the documentation in order, and it is all spelled out in crayon.

Possibly some others will post how they recieved their NOA1s.

    Good Luck.

  7.

    Against my instruction,she complicated things.

As soon as she got here and began taking advise from other "foreigners",she took her I94 ENTRY CARD/K1 Visa to the SS Office AND Florida Drivers License/ID Card office,to get a simple ID Card.

    She got:

    1 Florida ID Card

    1 Social Security Card

BOTH of these cards EXPIRED soon after she received them (because the I94 Entry Card expired) and were worthless.

Her intention to use them for employment, because the Mexicans at school told her to.

The SS card NEVER expires. We advise ALL K-1's to get the SS card within 74 days of arrival.

I've never seen a date on one.

That card should be perfectly good.

You are correct,it never expires, but this one is stamped in red ink

    "NOT FOR EMPLOYMENT"

The reason she got the card was for employment purposes, because the Mexicans told her to.

Did it say "without authorization" also?

EAD, or GC should be proof of authorization.

  8.

After Finger printing it took about 3 weeks for my wife to get her EAD card in the mail.

    OH GOD I hope so!!!

Im thinking anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months would be considered a normal waiting period.

We did this fingerprinting in Tampa Florida.

Same here, about 3 to 4 weeks.

  9. Ah yes... love the Chinglish... though still pondering how I will buckle before I rooster next time? Hilarious!

    Now I...

... drive in the Couple's Line (carpool lane) with my SO

... get my shirts flattened after washing

... packet my pocket before taking a trip

... visit Arizona to see the Grand Onion, etc.

Often I find, with the exception of the Grand Onion (and now the Rooster thing) that Chinglish makes much more practical sense.

After flattening your shirts, dont forget to put them in the 'put clothes place'.

    :)

For a while it was the "clothes hotel," but now "clothes room" for us.

  10. More on Traffic

How much more important from a safety point of view is the understanding of the relationships of the roadway where cars, taxis, buses, motorized bikes, mopeds, bicycles and pedestrians all move from point A to point B; yesterday I realized that this list includes animals as I watched with some fascination a very small dog following it¡¯s owner without the use of a leash, and the potential fate this animal was toying with by being a participant in traffic crossings. The owner rarely paid any mind to the animal other than to always walk forward and call it¡¯s name¡ the dog did a death dance to get across each road and the ensemble of roadway users simply treated it as yet another body in this seemingly controlled chaos of traffic; Essentially, a synchronized game of chicken.

Yes, this does involve animals. Last month while I was in Shanghai I also noticed on a few separate occasions dogs functioning within the masses. This blew me away, to say the least. The first time I noticed was similar to what you described, "dog following it¡¯s owner without the use of a leash, and the potential fate this animal was toying with by being a participant in traffic crossings. The owner rarely paid any mind to the animal other than to always walk forward and call it¡¯s name¡" I called this dog "Still In Training."

The other times involved another dog on different occasions. The first observation was where the dog was without it's owner simply walking along the sidewalk like it were a person. The dog appeared to be on a mission to get where it was heading, but not in a hurry just at a consistent stride. What was really interesting was when the dog attempted to cross the 2 lane street, it looked in both directions, paused for the taxi to pass, and then crossed the street continuing with the exact same stride. When the dog reached the corner to cross the 8 lane street it stopped, and waited for the people to cross when the light changed. I later observed the same dog within the residential area with it's owner, which was an elderly woman, but at that time the dog was simply the follower.

    Anyway, very interesting observations indeed.

Also, "Traveler's Observation #3," was a good topic that I feel some have not experienced just yet. Or, maybe some have experienced the issue, but may not have understood the background at the time. I face these opportunities daily, :P and I feel it is just part of that, Face.

    Blog on...............

  11. Traffic here is always fascinating... and I forgot about the eternal left hand turn; even after the light is red, another 20 vehicles will go through the read like a funeral is in motion. Oncoming traffic usually just waits. Right turn on red is silly; no need to even stop for that red... just merge and get to the spot first... only those going straight tend to stop the most. Driving on the opposite side of the road is just the quick detour to keep from stopping too much... and amazing how it produces a cascading effect of the opposite traveling vehicles to just move over and get out of the way, although it is their through way.

I think so also, simply fascinating. If one really watches the motion of order, to me it is like an ocean reef in some ways. A school of fish as if on a single plane, which travel a speed faster than others, in harmony sway in either direction to go around another creature that is not in the same flow. Within a reef a vast community of creatures collide.

The sights, smells, and noises all have a similar aura in a city no matter where you are in China. Some embrace it, others do not. Those who are visiting and those who have experienced living there sometimes seem to have a different view, but that perception is unique to its own.

And everything I saw today, I've seen in every trip... and suspect I will continue to in my lifetime...

But, there are those moments that something new is experienced.

That is what I find most intriguing.

I read your entries each day. As I enjoy to read them, I¡¯m positive you enjoy to write them. Nice descriptive writing.

  12. Congratulations!

Now, I know that it does seem rather anti-climatic, but I did jump up and down when I said, "Congrats!" :roller:

    And only one "Ceremonial Honeymoon?"

    Come on................

    In all them trips?

    Oh,

    "ǧÀïÖ®Íâ no longer! " huh?

Yes indeed, the training begins now. Don't fight it, just allow it to happen... :redmad:

Here is to Long Life, Happiness, and Wealth.

  13.

Name of person consenting? My wife?

Are you sure about that? Kinda seems like my wife is consenting to me to represent her? Conflicts with Lee's answer? or am I misunderstanding? Thanks so much for both of your replies!!! : )

Lee is correct, I apologize. Misread your question. Yes, (Name, and Signiture of Person Consenting)

    This would be your wife.

  14. I'm just starting to look at this form now and think File # to be kept blank?

    Correct

Is my wife the applicant or beneficiery?

    Applicant

How do I fill out the bottom?:

such as :The above consent to disclosure...following matter:

    ???

We put, "Original submission of I-485 Application to Adjust Status for (applicants name)."

Seems like same answer as checking box #4???....I am the applicants husband and sponsor and she has authorized me to act as her representative?

    That would work also.

We put "I am the applicats husband, and bear legal resposibility for (applicants name). "

Name of person consenting? My wife?

That would be the represenative, or you.

Does this only get filed with I-765, I-131, and I-485??? or also with G-325A and I-864 too???

We only filed one with each application I-485, I-131, and the I-765.

    Thank you!!!

Hope this helps. Good luck.
