  1. . Dear USCONGUZ, Thank you for taking time to respond to my inquiry. I fully understand that the Immigrant Visa Unit will not address B1/B2 visa issues. However, since you are a primary contact for CFL with GUZ and are likely much more familar with the operations of the US Consulate in Guangzhou than members of CFL, I would ask if you might be able to provide a suggestion as to how we might be able to query the US Consulate regarding issues involving B1/B2 visa. An email address, phone number or point of contact would be helpful. If you are unable or unwilling to offer such information I understand that this is not your role or responsiblity. I will explore other options from gaining access to information regarding B1/B2 visa. Thank you for your time. Respectfully, Boy Scout
  2. B2 Visas for Chinese family members to visit here in the USA are difficult to obtain based upon CFL's member's reported experiences. My First question is...Is there a minimum age limit for a Chinese family member visitor to obtain a visa and travel to the USA unaccompanied (For example, age 14, 16, 18 or)? Second question....Is there a minimum age limit for a Chinese family member visa applicant to enter the consulate unaccompanied for their B2 visa interview (that is, their parents being denied to be present during the interview)? My Third question... the GUZ IV Unit has a special email form and address to query the IV unit about their visa application. I could not find an email address or similar form to email an inquiry to the GUZ Non-IV Unit. What is the process to communicate with the Non-IV Unit regarding a B2 visa application? My Fourth question is, if a B2 visa is denied, is there a formal appeal process available for re-consideration or must one simply re-apply and pay a second fee? Thank you for your kind response. 3. For the I-134 you should send in a copy of your tax return (2 page 1040) for the last three years. Some say only 1 year, but GUZ may ask for 3. If your income is below the 125% of the poverty level, then you will need to show additional assets or have a co-sponsor. You can also send a letter from your current employer showing current wages. Others have sent additional information such as copy of bank statement etc. If your income is from wages from an employer and not from self-employment then usually the letter and your tax returns are enough. I went the overkill route and sent extra stuff. You will be asked to fill out an I-184 with more documentation during AOS. Hope this helps some.
  4. Tine, FYI File I-751 7/23/05 Approval Ltr 10/14/05 Appt local office 10/21/05 Received 10 year green card in mail 11/21/05
  5. We went to the local USCIS office with the approval letter, 2 year green card, three pictures and other docments. No formal interview. They took the green card and cut the end to invalidate it. They kept the green card. They made an entry into the passport that was good for 4 months. They completed a form, signed her name and provided a thumb print. They said the 10 year green card would be mailed within 3 months. Process took less than 15 minutes.
  6. The letter indicated that we were approved. It made no mention of an interview. It simply said bring the three pictures, ID, and all the prior paperwork. But clearly it said we were approved. In our submission of the I-751, we sent in a cover letter and a host of copies of documents ( house, utility bills, life insurance, joint med insurance, car insurance, etc) and two letters from friends attesting to our relationship. Of course different service centers and different local offices have different timelines. We were surprised that it was so quickly. Also when we went on line at the USCIS site and typed in the LIN number it came back as an error. So that option never appeared helpful. As some have mentioned the processing dates in the most recent NCS update showed processing of June 2005. So this is a little inaccurate because our submission date was in late July. Hope this helps.
  7. We filed our I-751 on July 23, 2005 through NCS. We received our NOA in about 7- 8 days. We just received the final approval letter fron NCS on Monday 10/14/05 with an approval date of 10/05/2005. The NOA was on an official looking ducument. The final approval letter was simply typed and signed with no formal letterhead. On Saturday 10/15/05 we went on line and and signed up via inforpass for an appointment at the local USCIS office for this Friday 10/21/05. No interview was required. They asked in the letter to bring three frontal face passport size recent pictures, ID such as green card/passport, and the suitcase of prior documents (just in case). The final approval letter indicated that the 10 year permanent green card would be issued within 6 months of less.
