1. There are approximately 1.3 billion people in China and close to 300 million people in the U.S., two of the world's largest countries. In view of the large number of immigrant visa applicants from China, DOS should either (1) increase the staffing needs of the Guangzhou Consulate or (2) let the other five U.S. consulates in China (including HK) share the processing of immigrant visa cases in their respective districts. Thus the time between P3 and P4 could be significantly shortened.
2. Hi, Mark: Why did the Visa Officer ask your SO for your tax returns? I thought that you already sent all your tax returns to NVC, which in turn had forwarded the returns to the Consulate. Do you have to give your SO an extra copy? Thanks!
3. I would have to accompany my wife and my son for the trip to the States, as they speak limited English. I think I would have to buy a R/T for myself and two one-ways. I would not be able to accompany my wife for the interview due to my limited vacation time already spent in China (would that make a big difference?). I think I would also have to sign up for their health insurance even before they come. I hate to cancel their oneway tickets and health insurance if something happens at last minute. Maybe I worried too much. How did you post timelines? Thank you all!
4. I saw quite a few people left China only within a week of getting the visas for their SO. How can they do that? If they bought the airline tickets in advance and got rejected for the Visa, there would be a severe penalty for refunding the tickets. On the other hand, if they waited until their SO actually received the visas, it would be too costly to buy the tickets in a week or buy from China. I know the most economic way is to buy a ticket from the US several weeks ahead of time. But I am wondering how those people can leave China so soon after they got the visas. Just take the risk or pay the hefty prices?
5. My case is very similiar to Chad. What is the average time between "Case Sent to Guangzhou" and "P4 Received by the Beneficiary", assuming all materials and forms are completed? Thank you! Paul 148885 Welcome Aboard paul Chad has two things going, the I-130 and the I-129. Which one are you refering to that yours is like? If you put a timeline in your signature, it is easier to answer questions and help you. 148910 I would like to know average time between "Case Sent to Guangzhou" and "P4 Received by the Beneficiary". I got my P3, I believe, sometime in June from NVC (not from Guangzhou). I have my case materials and all forms required for P3 including DS-230 part 1 and Affidavit of Support completed by NVC, because I have been in USA all the time since the start of the application process (1/05). (Note: I applied in USA, not in China.) NVC has determined that my case is now complete and sent it to Guangzhou toward the end of July.
