  1. Thanks for that info Jim, I'll definitely include a copy of her GC when I send in her passport.
  2. We recently returned from 5 weeks in Nanning. When my wife Qing went through Chinese customs in Guangzhou coming home, the officer wanted to see both her green card and passport. He really gave her/us a hard time because her name on the green card didn't match the passport name and there was no notation in the passport. He said US customs may not let her enter the US.... he really had us both worried the whole trip home! When we went through customs in LA, I saw the US agent looking through the pages where the notation is normally made, but he didn't say anything about it. We all went through together and he could see her last name and mine were the same so I think that is why he didn't mention it. Needless to say we were very relieved!!! I had booked the tickets in her maiden name to match her Chinese passport so there was no problem going over using just her passport. I plan to send Qing's passport and a certified copy of our marriage certif off to a Chinese embassy to get the name change notation entered in her passport so we don't have that problem in the future. When we got home and I reviewed our hold mail, I learned that Qing's biometric appointment for removal of conditions was scheduled for the morning of the day we were flying home from Nanning.... more stress after a long trip home!!! Her daughters biometric appointment was the following week so Qing went along and I asked if they could process her reschedule at the same time. I had sent the reschedule letter with an explanation why we missed her apptmt the previous week. They went back to an office and found the letter and went ahead and processed her at the same time. Major relief once again!! The biometric appointment letter says if you don't show up they consider your application abandoned.... that was not what I needed to see at 2am after 30 hrs of travel... Hopefully we are just in wait mode now and the 10 yr green cards will show up in a few months. It's been a long time since I've visited here so I hope you are all doing well. Cheers, Jim
  3. Congratulations Chefie and best of luck with the training.... I'm pretty well trained already.... I hear the "you don't know" often... I just smile... she's usually right about that... Enjoy each day of your new life together!
  4. Jesse, The I-693 Supplement, which can only be prepared by a Civil Surgeon, comes in a sealed envelope for each applicant that I mailed with the I-485's. We took the shot cards to the CS and they prepared the forms based on the info from the shot cards while we waited. You might get RFE'd but you should get these prepared to take to the interview if not, assuming you will have an interview. I'm very happy to hear things are going so well for you and your new family after such a long wait!! I couldn't be happier as well. This is the happy marriage I always dreamed of! Best of luck getting those green cards!! Jim
  5. USCIS link Perhaps we will get some in-your-face letters back from the USCIS, but one has to wonder about these glaringly apparant contracdictions.... Jesse, Medical examination is different than the vaccination supplement. If your SO had a medical exam to get her visa, she doesn't need another medical exam. The I- 693 supplement is only about vaccinations. We went to the local health dept to get the vaccinations and then took the records to a Civil Surgeon and paid $20 to have the I-693 suppl filled out. Very painless process. Getting the vaccinations at the Civil Surgeon would have cost twice as much. Good luck!!
  6. Congratulations Paul!!! Wonderful news. Best of luck getting her home soon!
  7. 2 taps for "time to answer NO"... After reading the list of bad stuff I decided it would be impossible to get them to understand that stuff. They all start with Have you ever, Did you, do you, etc.... Those were their cues... when you hear those words, wait until they finish speaking and calmly answer NO. Worked like a charm! I'm sure the gal was real impressed with their grasp of the English language for only being here 5 months.... Qing still has no idea what she asked her... Thanks to all!!
  8. We just had our interview yesterday and they didn't ask to see any doc's I had already submitted so I think your chances of it being requested now are low. Good luck!
  9. Our AOS interviews were scheduled yesterday at 2pm and 3pm for wife and daughter separately but I was pleasantly surprised when the gal called us all in together. We were in there about 20 minutes and she asked a lot of questions... I was surprised how many, some I think were more of her curiosity. My wife and daughter both did great!! I had all the documents along but only was asked for a copy of the documents showing joint ownership. She asked Qing several of the questions from the I-485 list. Qing did great, even though she had no clue what she was asking... I tapped her on the leg when she was asking the first one so she calmly answered No to each. Then the gal tried to throw a curve at her and asked " Is this your first time in the USA?" instead of "Have you entered the USA before", which required a Yes answer instead of No like the rest. Qing picked up on that and answered Yes... I was quite relieved! All the rest of the questions were straight-forward.... where do you live, what is your phone number, where are you from, how many children do you have, what are your mother and father's first names. We had rehearsed my mother / father names on the way but that was never asked. She asked how we met and how many times I went to visit her in China. She seemed impressed when I told her I went 2 times, the second trip for more than 2 months. She seemed quite impressed with Ming's English skills so she only got a few questions. She then asked where I work, asked how many times I had been married previously, where we got married once in the USA, she asked why we went to Iowa to get married (both my daughters live there). After I showed her documents showing Qing joint on my bank accounts and beneficiary of Life Insurance, she said I am approving your application and you will receive your conditional green cards in the mail within 2-3 weeks. We were all very happy with that news!! I think the gal could tell we were a happy family from the way we looked at each other, responded quickly to her questions, talked to each other and kept it on the light side. Noone looked or acted nervous which I think is key. That was it, we passed with flying colors and we're all very happy today!! Thanks to CFL for all the fantastic info and all the member and moderator expertise that has made our journey a smooth and fast one. One year from NOA-1 to Green Cards approved! Now on to driving school, more english classes and lots of fun together each day. Thanks again CFL!!!! We wouldn't be here without your help and support!!
  10. Congratulations to both of you!!! Now the fun begins!! Best of luck.
  11. Congratulations!! Glad to hear you were successful! I tried to get an AZ State ID card for Qing and was told she needed her green card before she could be issued a State ID... When we went to the USCIS office for Biometrics I asked about the ID card there and was told she could also get an ID if Qing had an EAD auth, which we didn't apply for. It seems odd to me that they would request that of you instead of the passport, given what I learned about ID's in AZ. Thanks for the feedback.... very helpful! I'll have a pile of papers when we go in there too.
  12. I agree Carl, but what is even harder for me to understand is why an interview is ever scheduled if all the background checks are not complete!! That's totally irresponsible in my opinion. I wonder what GUZ Speaks would say about this?
  13. Phil, to say Qing and I are speechless and in shock is a big understatement!! I came on here to see more happy posts from you and am now in total disbelief!! I can't imagine what you and Yun are feeling now. This is just unbelieveable! You guys have been through so much!! Hang in there my friend! I wish there was something I could say or do to help!
  14. CONGRATULATIONS Phil and Yun!!! Wow, you had me worried when I started reading this though... This is fantastic news!!! I will tell Qing when she wakes up and I know she will be really happy too! Hope to see you both in Tucson later this month!! Good luck with the rest of your stay and trip home!!
  15. Congratulations!!! Best of luck on a successful interview!
