Sorry, It is.... Like Sony BETAMAX is vs VHS....Remember? It's irrelevant what the techonolgy is... What is relevant is: WHERE can you use that technology. Currently, US cell phone standards can only be used, more or less well, in the USA... GSM is worldwide.. I used it in India,Australia , Europe, China, Lithuania, Iceland, South Africa etc... Can't do that with an ATT Nokia single band US phone.. Those are the facts and they are not disputed Actually CSMA/ TDMA/GSM are very similar... Yes, I know, but there are only 195 country using GSM. There still some other counties left for CDMA market, and China has decided to go with CDMA and GSM. "QiaoXing" cell phone manufacture has started to make those phones. If half of people in China use CDMA, that is 0.6 billion.

Hi, you guys don't push US all the way back to the 70's. Eric, The CDMA has many advantages over GSM. But the GSM started earlier, so many countries adopted it. CDMA can save a lot of bandwith to transmitt the same amount of data. I'm Not trying to argue, just want to say that US is not behind.
