  1. I ordered the transcript right after we received our rebate check.
  2. Thanks!.... But I have yet another question. So I tracked the application package sent to Phoenix and it arrived on Monday (3/02/09). When should we be expecting the receipt? How long does it typically take?
  3. Darnit. I sure hope there isn't another city somewhere called Pheonix, and with the same zip code as Phoenix, and both in Arizona. That would really mess things up.
  4. This kind of cig looks great. I want to buy a bunch for my dad-in-law. So how much do they cost? That's what I really want to know that the articles don't seem to point out.
  5. So we finally sent out the N-400 today via FedEx. But I'm going neurotic after second guessing some things. First of all, we did not put a phone number for the recipient's address. Secondly, I believe that a signature requirement box was checked on the FedEx form. Will this cause a delay? As for the package itself, we mailed it to: USCIS ATTN: N-400 1820 E Skyharbor Circle S. Floor 1 Pheonix, AZ 85034 Inside the package we included: 1) completed form N-400 2) copy of green card 3) copy of our marriage certificate w/ English translation 4) copy of my birth certificate 5) copy of our son's birth certificate 6) tax return transcripts for years 2006, 2007 and 2008 7) two passport photos with a# on back 8) check made out to U.S. Department of Homeland Security for $675 Did we miss anything?
  6. What, no Eddie Cantor? What about the Boswell Sisters, or Al Jolson? You youngsters and your fancy music nowadays.
  7. I taught in Universities and I had no degree. Some schools do require a bachelor's degree however depending on where you are in the country. More developed cities can be more selective in whom they hire and for how much they pay depending on experience and education.
  8. I wouldn't object to having another baby when I'm 50. However, my wife will be 45 at that time and may not want to have another one so late. As for paying for college, why should parents have to worry about that? Financing your own college education is one of the best learning experiences that a student can have.
  9. She absolutely does not need a Hong Kong visa if she is entering via the United States. However, her stay will be limited to seven days using a PRC passport (compared to 90 days for US passport holders). When entering HK via China however, she will need a visa unless she has the proper documentation (plane tickets to US, green card) that proves she is just passing through. To extend her stay in HK, she must either visit the Chinese embassy in the United States to obtain an extended visa for HK or visit her local PSB in China to obtain a tourist visa for HK.
  10. You should be watching Fox News. You are American, aren't you?
  11. I just read the first page of this post and all I can say is that the situation is majorly F'd UP! You have to tell that guy that the girl he is going to see is already married. WTF!
  12. Isn't Tennessee in the south? Isn't the south supposed to be warm?
  13. I don't know about you, but I'm impatient. Especially when I write a check and it clears three months later. So when we file the N-400 and the DHLS gets our check, how long does it take the Government to cash it. Would we be better off getting a money order or cashier's check to pay the fees? Thanks in advance.
  14. Don't worry about anything. After more than a dozen trips to China and back, I have never encountered any problems (other than over weight limits for luggage by the airlines [we put all our luggage in one bag because my wife was preggers. No deal says United. Go figure]) Bringing home your own personal DVD movies or CDs from China in a travel case should not be a problem either. Just throw away the packaging and you should be fine. We've even brought through fruits and vegetables from China without problems.
  15. why not do both? A sig is just a symbol that is a representation of your self's intent or acceptance to a legal obligation.
  16. So the missus has been wanting to get a Chinese electronic dictionary for quite a while now, and after some searching around, we found the perfect one. It's put out by a little company called Apple. It's called the the iPod touch and has all features that the higher end dictionaries have (handwriting recognition, voice, etc) plus loads more. You can even make calls to China using the device's WiFi capabilities. And it also plays mp3s! Best chinese dictionary ever.
  17. Ok, thanks. So where can I buy XP? I can't seem to find any copies anywhere.
  18. But what are the differences between the two OS? Loads of folks say vista is shit, but why? What's so bad about it?
  19. So we just bought a new computer, an iMac with a 1 terabyte hard drive. It's really a nice computer. The only problem with it though is that it doesn't have a very good QQ application. QQ for mac only has basic file sharing and chat functions, no video or voice chat features. So we were thinking of loading Vista or XP on the unit using bootcamp in order to use these programs, but can't decide on which one. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
  20. I hate music. Honestly, I can't stand listening unless it's in the background to something I'm watching (Movie, TV, interactive art piece, etc.) When I'm driving in the car, I only listen to talk radio (switch between NPR and FOX News Radio) I do like music, but only when I have visual elements that accompany it.
  21. We only have tax returns for the last two years. The first year we lived with mom in USA and didn't file because we lacked income. This is our first and last marriage. (sure, everyone says that but it's really true!) We do have a joint bank account, but they transposed her name by mistake. (family name first, given name last--Chinese Style) Will this have any effect on the process? We are thinking of omitting the bank statements and tax returns. The USCIS website reads that you just need one of the following: Documents referring to you and your spouse: * Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or * Internal Revenue Service (IRS) - certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or * An IRS tax return transcript for the last three years. So the birth certificate of our son should suffice, right? Financial records will not be necessary because we have the proof of our child's birth certificate for relationship status.
  22. Don't be nervous! Quiz her daily to prepare. ...you could even work it into your foreplay. The political environment today is rapidly changing, so remember that by the interview date all the names may have changed in the answers! Good luck and remember to return the favor!
  23. We are getting ready to file the N-400 in December. We have already filled out all the information on the application and have gathered the documents required. I still have two questions however. Q#1: On the section on work and school, my wife is changing schools at the start of the spring semester. If she is starting her new school in January 2009, should she write that down on the application if it is sent in December? Q#2 For the documents that need to be sent with the application, we are sending the following: Copies of both sides of her green card Two Passport style photos Copies of our marriage certificate, both original Chinese version and notarized English translation obtained in China for her original US visa Copy of my birth certificate Copy of our son's birth certificate A check for too much money Are we missing anything? Thanks in Advance!
  24. ATT offers unlimited international texting for $10 a month. We would have got it, except our phones have no Chinese input.
