  1. Actually, yes I am. Having been in China now 3 years I can with all honesty say that they are fair, as timely as possible, and doing a much better job than you know. Just PTL the Chinese government doesn't have anything to do with this process or none of you would ever see your princesses. Of course my luck is such that they probably monitor this board and the Chinese Public Security Bureau will be knocking on my door in the morning. (nervous laugh)
  2. No idea if it's normal, but I also received a very polite, personal (they used my first name) email from GUZ today (Saturday). Actually all their emails have been quite pleasant and personal, so nothing new there.
  3. GUZ told me that my fiancee's P-3 was received there April 1st. From what I've been reading most people who had their P-3's in the system the first week of April have received their P-4's. Obviously we have not. I emailed GUZ for a status check and received a very polite, personal reply today (Saturday), stating that the interview is waiting to be scheduled. Supposedly nothing pending, etc. I realize this is an inexact science, but I am slightly, miffed?, that we haven't gotten ours as others in the same time frame have. I believe they are aware that I am in China, and have been the past 3 years, and at one point I mentioned to them that since we are at least together I will be patient. Well, I am running out of patience. Do I need to get more forceful?, or just continue to enjoy the cultural splendors of China (which, my friends, is on the wane). Any suggestions appreciated. Congrats to those who got what they were waiting for.
  4. As it is easier for my mother to call DOS from Cleveland then it is for me from Yantai, she did so for me yesterday. Same result-"nothing pending, no interview scheduled yet". I know it is very hard for those of you who must be apart from your mates, but trust me it's no picnic waiting in China either. My 3 year anniversary of being here is in August, and as much as I love living and being with my fiancee, between the heat, smell, and basically every single aspect of China I just want this over either way. I had been basically fine here until this interview date started looming, now it's like holding a glass in front of a parched man and saying, "Ummm, no drink just yet..." Anyway, I had no intention of rambling, just wanted to pass along the first 2 sentences.
  5. I called DOS today from China to check on things and they told me nothing is pending, they just haven't set the interview date yet. They told me the name check was completed in February 2005, but Guangzhou didn't receive the P-3 until April 1, 2005. Does this make sense? I was under the impression the name check was done betweeen the P-3 and receipt of the P-4. This is for a K-1 visa, if it matters. Thanks.
  6. I have been reading about people calling DOS to find interview date. I wanted to know the tele. number and what info. we need to get the date if known. Also, as I am in Yantai, can my mother call and get any information? On the interview front itself we have some concerns; specifically, age difference of 20 years, prior tourist visa denial (she was going to come with me to US to file I-129F, then return with me again to China), and I am also divorced (10/2003, we separated prior to my first coming to China, my fiancee had nothing to do with that). Background: We met 8/2002 as teacher & student, we started dating after she was no longer my student. I have been in China, other than going home for a summer or winter break sometimes, the entire time since 8/2002. Engaged 2/2004, we have physically lived together since 10/2004 in Qingdao and now Yantai. I have copies of all my university contracts and residence permits showing I have in fact been here with her. Not a lot of pictures, maybe 80 or so. She was an English major (graduated 6/2004) so her English should be better than most. Any and all information welcome, and thanks for your time.
  7. I'm almost afraid to ask, but....I have prepared an I-134 and so has my mother as a co-sponsor for a K-1 visa. I have been reading alot about an I-864, do I need that instead and/or also? Another question; would it be of any help if my mother came to Guangzhou? I have been in China for the past 3 years with my fiancee so naturally I will go, but my mother asked if it would help if she came also. Thank you
  8. Since the Consulate will be moved before my fiancee gets her interview I wanted to know if anyone can inform me of hotels near the new location, or if the old one isn't that far and the Victory, Holiday Inn, etc., are still close enough. Thank you
