  1. If you really wanted to stay, you could make arrangements to teach english, and then you could stay a very long time. They want westerners to teach english. Also, another question, can we get our fiancee's in trouble by living at their home? I am sure many of us have, however I am slightly worried about jealous and unfriendly people towards my fiancee. They would pounce on the chance to get her in trouble.
  2. Hello everyone, I am ready to send in my I-129F form and wanted to see if this is right. I have my passport photos, but on the new form application they say they want 3/4 front shots. Previously head on shots were fine, am I still OK? I also did not put down an engagement date. On Q. 18, met in person, I put down how we met, that we met in person, and we love each other and want to get married. Is that good enough? I also completed all steps for my divorce before we met, but NY is extremely slow - took almost 9 months, and did not get the decree until 10/20/05. We met in person in July-August 05. I also included my new airline receipt for January 06. Do you think I will run into problems about that? Thanks so much, Rick
  3. My SO just informed me that her parents paid 10,000RMB for a "real" birthcertificate for her. She also mentioned that it is easy to get birthcertificates that are knock off's and cost maybe 30RMB, or the girls are using money sent to them to bribe people for these documents but not telling their fiance's about it. I have not heard of this type of problem on here before. Does anyone have experience in regards to these matters? How about any pointers? Thanks!
  4. I happy for you Eric, congratulations! I am back at the beginning so for someone in my shoes, hearing all you guys, you would think this is like climbing Mt. Everest. Do a lot of people really get denied? I will also have to figure out the colored shirts thing. By the same token it is very reassuring to hear things working out. I keep a positive mental attitude and thanks to everyone. I am waiting for my SOs passport photos and signed G325 forms and then I send in the I-129F packet. That's all I have for a timeline! Take care and I will catch you on the flip side! Rick
  5. Alright, Eric, great news! I go back in January for my second visit and I am almost ready to send in my 129. Take care and catch you on the flip side. Rick Btw, don't forget me, I love you too!
  6. Thanks everyone! My SO just calls it the Chinese way. Maybe some regions are worse than others. I also ran into problems that arose from being seen with her. She is a teacher and had to quit her job because of it. Basically a result of other jealous and mean female colleagues. I remember reading a post from someone here to keep things quiet and tell no one anything. It probably would have been alright if we did not hold hands in public, when we didn't people asked her if she was my translator. It also drew attention to her from the wrong kind of people. Since Americans are considerred to be rich over there and the people nearbye know that I left, it puts her in a more harmful position. Just something to be aware of.
  7. Hello, In order for my SO to get notarized documents (birth certificate etc) she has to bribe the notary. Anyone else run into things like this? Thanks
  8. It is real encouraging to see stories like yours! Thanks for sharing and congratulations!
  9. Thanks everyone, I was getting confused reading the other sites. One more question then on the forms. I brought blank forms with me to China (Shenzhen) and had her sign them when I was there (she only signed with Chinese characters, not her pinyin/translated name). It is hard to put the information in the blocks, so I used a block underneath it to continue the address information (G325A for residence and place of employment, on the I-129F I kind of squeezed the information in the blocks). Was that a bad thing to do? I later found the fillable versions of the forms and was going to type the information in and it doesn't come close to fitting. I read that you should add a continuation sheet where this information won't fit. Is this a better idea? I would need to send the G325A back to my SO but I want to get it right and from what I have read it sounds important to get things right. Thanks again! 155421[/snapback] Oh, one more thing. Should I plan my vacation around my SO's interview or other events? Thank you!

  11. Hi All, I am preparing my I-129F and have been searching the site and links for information, thank you all. I am getting ahead of my self on several points, but I am new and want to get an idea of what I can expect. Is it as hard as they say? I tend to worry too much! The visajourney website says to get notarized copies of the I-129F and the G325A (for the both of us). Is that necessary? I also listed some highlights from the K-1 China link from this site. Fiancée needs Chinese official documents The Chinese fiancée needs a certified police record from every city where she lived six months or more, since age 16. A Chinese official who is not happy about the fiancée emigrating may cause difficulties with the letter of invitation. The letter needs to be HANDWRITTEN and translated into Chinese. Problems with the fiancée's passport Chinese officials may regard the INS form I-134 form as stronger evidence of commitment than the letter of invitation. Worse, they may inspect financial figures declared on the form, then set the passport fee at what they think the couple will pay. Thanks again!
  12. Hi, I have checked out the links and the site for information on this. Thank you, although I am still a little unassure of what I can expect. The person I am visiting just quit the party. Does this mean I have to wait 2 years from then? She is a teacher and joined for a better position, nothing political at all. Below is an excerpt from this site on the subject, I am sorry I could not find the link for it again, what about this? Is she is a communist party member? If so, you will have to apply for a waiver of Section 212 ineligibility. You can actually start the waiver process before her interview. Contact Guangzhou after she gets her P4 and they'll tell you how. Other than that, my guess is you will have no problem, unless she has a history of running over students with tanks... I just found this information about Section 212 ineligability. I am not going to worry about this anymore because of the exception of involuntary membership for purpose of obtaining employment. (i) In general.-Any immigrant who is or has been a member of or affiliated with the Communist or any other totalitarian party (or subdivision or affiliate thereof), domestic or foreign, is inadmissible. (ii) Exception for involuntary membership.- Clause (i) shall not apply to an alien because of membership or affiliation if the alien establishes to the satisfaction of the consular officer when applying for a visa (or to the satisfaction of the Attorney General when applying for admission) that the membership or affiliation is or was involuntary, or is or was solely when under 16 years of age, by operation of law, or for purposes of obtaining employment, food rations, or other essentials of living and whether necessary for such purposes. I confirmed with the American consulate. (A friend of my Colleague's is working there). It won't be a problem if the membership is cancelled. But, if you told the VO it was cancelled but actually it wasn't they would be able to check it out. They will investigate if you say yes to the question. Just be careful.
  13. Hello, I am new here and am visiting China (Shenzhen mainly) for the first time this July. Has anyone thought about openning an account with the Bank of China in the USA? Here is a link http://www.bocusa.com/bocny/ I am sure I will have questions, I am trying to get all my information together. The lady I am seeing was also a teacher and joined the Communist Party for a better position. When I told her I was concerned she quit. I will follow some of the posts on here to start I guess. Take care
