Who was online 9 Users were Online in the last 24 hours Randy W 3D_psEn agrohimoxx DuaneDof ElliottTog RonaldHab Martin B StevenPioky newacct Only three of these are real users (if you see your name, you are not a bot). There is usually around six of them every day from various IP addresses. Not a pain except when they make random posts. So far, I've only seen 3 of those - all were about the San Mao 'pick'. Keep your fingers crossed. The IP addresses have NOT been consistent.

  9. Has CCP politics scared away the football star? In recent days, the incident of Lionel Messi refusing to appear at a Hong Kong football match has become a geopolitical event. Messi's absence in Hong Kong and subsequent performance in Japan have upset not just patriotic Chinese football fans but also Beijing and Hong Kong authorities. China's Football Association has temporarily suspended collaboration with Argentine Football Association. Why did Messi refuse to play in Hong Kong? What impact does this event have on geopolitics?
  10. Hong Kong Update 10 February, 2024 email Astonished, seething, hurt – Hongkongers were left with bitter emotions when football superstar Lionel Messi sat out a much-anticipated match with a local team on Sunday, claiming an injury prevented him from playing. What was shaping up to be one of the biggest local sporting events of the year instead became a slap in the face, one that stung all the harder when Messi took to the field for a friendly game in Japan a few days later. In the face of public and official outrage, the organiser agreed to refund some of the money fans paid for their tickets. On the political front, the government is continuing its publicity drive to explain the coming domestic version of Hong Kong's national security law. Top officials, including city leader John Lee, met foreign diplomats and heads of business chambers to explain the scope of the legislation and to offer reassurances that a powerful state secrets law would not impede the free flow of information that allows Hong Kong to function as a preeminent financial hub.

  18. ‘No, I’m Singaporean’: TikTok CEO Chew Shou Zi responds to US Senator’s questions about China ties After a U.S. senator grilled the Singaporean CEO of TikTok about his nationality and suggested he was affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party, Singaporeans are complaining about ignorant — or even racist — views of their country. TikTok CEO Shou Chew and executives of other technology firms such as Meta, X and Snap testified Wednesday before U.S. lawmakers on online harm to children from social media. During the hearing, Chew was repeatedly questioned about his nationality and possible affiliations to the Chinese Communist Party by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. TikTok, which is operated by the Chinese firm ByteDance, has over 150 million users in America. U.S. lawmakers have regarded TikTok with considerable suspicion over whether its data can be accessed by the Chinese government and whether the app can be used to expand China’s influence. Chinese companies are required to set up Communist Party cells.

  20. ONLY IN CHANGBAISHAN If the sight of the natural stunning beauty of rimes and thrill of winter rafting intrigue you, go to Changbaishan because it is the only place in China where one can do both along the so-called “never-freezing river”. ✅ JILIN’S RIME is one of China’s four natural wonders. ❄️ According to locals, elsewhere, the formation of rime is a rare occurrence, but the unique environmental conditions in Jilin make it possible. They even celebrate Jilin Rime with an annual event. So why is the river “never-freezing” and how are rimes formed? The Songhua River stays warm because of the Fengman Hydropower Station located upstream. The warm water creates vapor in the air, which condenses into fog as it cools. The water in the fog then freezes as it hits the cold winter air.😶‍🌫️ ✅ Locals say that, at the time of our WINTER RAFTING, the temperature dropped to -30C. We stopped along the way to look closely at the rime, snow and ice so it took us over an hour to reach the end of the 3-kilometer never-freezing river. 🥶 From 2021 to (first few days of)2023, we have so far seen three of China’s four natural wonders - Jilin’s rime, the Yangtze’s Three Gorges and Guilin's karst and rivers. 🥰
