  1. That confirms what I thought. That my Senator's office was getting the same info as I was getting from the DOS info line. Jim
  2. A suggestion: a week or two ago, Mick compiled a list of all K-1's waiting for visas. If we could get that list updated that would be great. Maybe even create a new file on the main page of CFL. Jim
  3. A friend of my fiance got her notice from GZ today that she can pick up her visa. She is a K-3. Her interview was September 4. I wanted to let every one know because I know how we all wait for good news. I wish it was my fiances. Then I would be real happy. Jim
  4. My Senators office sent a request to the Congressional Liason in the Visa Office for my fiance and her son. The liason sent back a reply that they are still pending. Does any one know where this liason is getting her information from? Thanks, Jim
  5. I called the GuangZhou fax number at 02081864001. It has been changed. The new number is 2081219001. Jim
  6. Below is a copy of a letter I sent to Maura Harty. February 16, 2003 Maura Harty Assistant Secretary Bureau of Consular Affairs Dear Ms. Harty, I need your help. My Chinese fiancé and her 20 year old son are two of the unfortunate individuals who have been waiting for the name check clearance to be completed so they can be issued their visas and come to join me here in New York. They successfully completed their interview in GuangZhou on December 23, 2002. I paid for processing fees, airfare, hotel, medical exams and visa fees. Those were all expected expenses and I have gladly paid them. I have been told that their names were resubmitted for clearance on January 4, 2003. I have also read e-mail and fax responses from your office to other people that the clearances were now taking two weeks. The response to a letter sent on my behalf from Senator Schumer’s office said the name clearance would take 4 to 5 weeks. This past Saturday it was 6 weeks since their names were resubmitted and to my knowledge their clearance has not been received. Another issue that complicates this even further is the fact that on July 9, 2003 my fiancés son will age out. As of today the district office in Buffalo, New York where we would file for AOS is taking 120-150 days to complete the process. As of the date of this letter it is 135 days till his 21st birthday. As I’m sure you know if he does not have his AOS by his 21st birthday he cannot remain in this country. Before we can file the necessary paperwork they have to get their visas, arrive here in New York, my fiancé and must get married and then drive to Buffalo to file for their AOS. I don’t want to imagine the effect it will have on my fiancé, her son and myself if we are not able to complete this process in the required time frame I would appreciate it if you would personally look in to their cases and use what ever power you have to prevent an already heart breaking situation from getting any worse. I am including their names, birthdates and case numbers. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Sincerely, James Klein (585) xxx-xxxx (Office) (585) xxx-xxxx (Mobile) jwk@xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx, Birthdate-xxxxxxx, Case # GUZxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx, Birthdate-xxxxxxx, Case # GUZxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Senator Charles Schumer, Congressman James Walsh, and Richard Adams, Chief of Immigration Visa Section, GuangZhou, China
  7. Eric, That's great news. I'm very happy for you. It would be interesting to know if the DOS info line has that information. It would let us know how far behind GZ is. Maybe you can make that call to find out. The Best To Both Of You, Jim
  8. Interview Date: December 23 Resubmitted: January 4
  9. What is the difference between calling the DOS info line and the CA number? I have seen posts from people who have talked to CA and seem to get more information. Is this true? Someone help clarify this form me. I called the DOS this morning and no clearance yet. Thanks, Jim
  10. I need the two or three responses that were received from Maura Harty. I believe they were from faxes sent in December. I am looking to put together the chain of events and especially the one stating that they were receiving clearances in two to three weeks. I am talking with someone in Charles Schumer's office. He is on the Subcomittee on Immigration. Jim
  11. It's not a form letter, however, she took part of the fax she sent us and added some wording. So it might as well be a form letter. Jim
  12. I am in areement that we need to go back in to action. The fax that we received from Maura Harty seems at this point to be nothing more than a way to get us off their backs. It worked. I believe we need to combine our efforts as some one suggested a couple weeks ago. I believe we need to come up with a campaign designed not on a personal basis but stating the facts and what we have been told would happen and didn't. If we share these letters with each other or better yet if a couple people design the letter or letters and then ask for input we can design a powerful response and then blitz every source we can think of, DOS, FBI, News Media, Congress, Senate, etc. "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" Jim
  13. You probably should pin this one.
  14. Here's a reply I just received from GZ after e-mailing them on 12/30/02 and 1/08/03. Thank you for your email. We have not yet received a response from the Department of State for your case. Once we get it, we will notify the applicants. Thank you for using the GuangzhouIV e-mail service. The Information Team tries to reply promptly to all inquiries. However, given the high volume of mail we receive, sometimes our response can be delayed. Please be patient and wait for our reply before writing again. Also, please try to combine as many questions as possible into one e-mail. Thank you very much for your cooperation. The Information Team Jim
  15. After five busy signals, I finally got on hold. Waited about twenty minutes. The lady who answered checked the status and told me the last information was resubmitted on January 4th. No clearance yet. I asked her how much longer and she said it wasn't quite four weeks yet, call back next week. I told her that we have been told the clearances were only taking two to three weeks. She said, I think it will be soon. Call next week. Jim
  16. Our interview was December 23rd and when I called DOS on January 8th I was told my fiance and her son were resubmitted on January 4th. No news on being cleared yet.
  17. I had a personal experience with this recently. Yin's interview was December 23, 2002. Yin's English is not great, however we communicate fine, sometimes with a little explaining. Although she always says to me her English is not good and she can only speak a little English. When she went for the interview she got an American. He asked her if she spoke English. She said a little and she also told him she used an interpreter, which she does to translate long e-mails in to English. Luckily I was outside the consulate, so he asked to see me. I went in and explained every thing to him and told him I had English classes arranged for her in th U.S. He asked me if I was fine with the way every thing was at this point. I said of course. He then approved it. I think she got nervous, which I'm sure all the fiances and wife's do. I was wondering what might have happened though if I hadn't been there. Jim
