  1. so it has been about 2 months and one week since I sent AOS and my husband has already done biometrics and we have an interview appointment next month. We still don't have the EAD and the case numbers for EAD, AOS, and AP are still showing up as non existent int he case status system online. Anyone experience this? Is it possible to not have EAD before interview?
  2. Hi guys, so we have our AOS interview appointment in May. I have a question about state ID. I have a Washington State ID but I live and go to school out of state. My husband got his State ID here where we live, not Washington. Will is look suspicious that his ID and my ID are not from the same state? Our names are on the lease for our apartment and bank accounts with the address here. Plus I have proof of being a student here. Also, I chose not to change my last name. Is that going to be a problem?
  3. my husband got his biometrics done. I logged onto the USCIS case status site to add in the application numbers for our AOS but it says that the application numbers do not exist. Its been about 3 weeks since we sent them in. Anyone have the same experience?
  4. Oops, i mean "husband"...i need to get used to saying that! Thanks everyone for the info.
  5. Do I have to go with my fiance to get his biometrics done? What do they do besides take your fingerprints? thanks! zanyi
  6. well my mom went to a notary office and got them done for $10 per document. Now I have to get my stuff notarized, I guess I'll just try to get whatever the bank will notarize notarized. I read in the FAQ section that you should get the I-864 notarized. is that correct? -zanyi tax transcripts cannont be notarized as you do not sign them, employement letter could only be notarised if the boss signs it infront of a notary. all a notarty does is "notarize a signiture or statement" of the person in front of them.
  7. my mom is the co-sponsor for my now-husband. she went to get her I-864 application, tax transcripts, passport page, employment letter, etc. notarized at the bank of america. They refuse to notarize anything except the passport page copy. Is that right? Nothing else has to be notarized? B/c when we did th I-134 everything was notarized by my bank of america branch.
  8. Hi Guys, we are working on the AOS package and have a question. What should we put for Part 3 the question: "In what status did you last enter?" would we say "K-1"? thanks!
  9. so when he fills out the form what should he check for #3? Legal Alien Allowed to work or not allowed to work? we haven't applied for the EAD yet b/c our wedding is not until next week.
  10. Hey guys, do we need the EAD before we apply for the SSN?
  11. I wish I could come with him but cannot justify a $1,000+ ticket just to accompany him... I am still in school and can't afford it. but he'll be fine, he speaks fluent english and has travelled aborad (but not the US) before. I read the POE posts on VisaJourney, which was really helpful, and several of them flew alone too. thanks for the advice.
  12. Can anyone share their experience with Chicago POE? My fiance is flying alone so just wanted a heads up on anything we should know about this POE. thanks, -z
  13. So i found out that b/c we have a flight number on our itinerary this won't be a problem. they said sometime people enter in the wrong billing address or some other mistake and triggers and flag on the ticket, requiring them to see the credit card. I called 3 times and all times they said not to worry and that he won't be asked for the card. phew, i'm relieved. thanks for the replies guys!
  14. Customer Service said that they only ask for the credit card when you enter something wrong online. But then wouldn't the transaction just not be processed if you entered something wrong? Doesn't make sense. They said not to worry and that my fiance will not have to show the credit card I used since our ticket was not flagged, but I just can't keep from worrying... anyone fly from China to US on United? -z I flew United,on a part of my trip to China,i think it was from New york to Tampa,i had an e ticket, they asked for my credit card, and i told them,i don't remember what credit card i used, which was true,i didn't remember, and i was in a hurry,to catch my next flight. They blew it off, they didn't make an issue of it.Gave me my boarding pass (showed my passport for ID) Jimi .
  15. So i just purchased a plane ticket for my fiance from united.com. the ticket has his name: (First Name) MR (Last Name). What is the MR doing in the middle? Is that normal? Also I read somewhere that United makes e-ticket holders present the card they used to buy the ticket at check in. But problem is I am not flying with him. I called customer service and they said our ticket was not flagged so they won't ask for it. But being the paranoid person that I am I am still worried. Anyone's fiance/e flown United under this sitution and not asked for the card? Thanks
  16. I looked at the I-485 but I dont see the line that asks for the name on the I-94. should i include an addendum? also have peope found any diffculty when travelling with a different name on their GC than on their PP?
  17. Hi all, my fiance is arriving in a few weeks and soon we'll be married. But i have a question about name change. he wants to change his first and last name both. his name is not chinese since he is not ethnic-han, but his name is written in chinese and pin yin phonetically. when he moves here we want to have his name in english phonetics so people can pronounce his name properly. Anyone know if it is better to do this before we get a GC or after? and how do we go about doing this? Thanks a lot! zanyi
  18. dont listen to what other people say. I have tons of white girlfriends that have dated/are dating/married with kids to asian-american men. Maybe the person you talked to doesn't hang around multi-racial/cultural groups? Hope the process goes smoothly! I guess I didn't mean "white", I meant more like "not asian" hihihi I know some American born asian women marry men from Asia, just wondered if there were non asian women besides me. Glad to hear I am not the only one ... had a lawyer in the states give me a hard time about "white girls don't marry asian men for real" isn't that special? So I am officially a stress case at this point, because this man is my soulmate. American Woman
  19. well i'm not white but i am american and female and my fiance lives in china. I have seen american females on this site who have petitioned for their fiances/husbands, not a lot but there are some. good luck!
