With many negatives things are said about China lately here is a postitive one.
http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2008-11...ent_7253281.htm
Just wait, there are those who will be sure to show this as a negative thing going on in China, just like many other threads.
Well, if your neighbor's don't fly in Chinese jets, and you don't see one on your way to work, . . .
The only thing negative is that they didn't show the flight attendants that come with the jet. (huba huba)

When I was in GZ in July there was alot of TV time devoted to the quake, second to the Olympics.
I'm sure the new years show will have a good chunk devoted to it.

The SF Bay Area will work.

My wife's best friend bought a second business (1/3 share) in hardware
in GZ last year.
Seems to be doing well.

Gee, I hardly know where to start.
Off hand, I can readily think of 3 99Ranch markets (aka DaWa), Valley Supermarket, Shun Fat, and a few other Asian supermarkets within 4 miles of our home.
Am I supposed to give you their addresses?
I think for the west coast it's easier to refer to the Yellow Pages.

If you want to check out the French Quarter, you can tour the
former residences of Sun Yat-sen and Zhou Enlai.
The area is a bit less crowded.

You can check my VT site out if you need ideas; I haven't kept it up that well though.
My wife did most the wheeling and dealing inside China (transportation & tours ect) and sometimes I had to "wait around the corner".
I think touring China the Chinese way is best.
Just keep your "face" and enjoy the adventure.
forgot to add the link

Don't forget to visit the watertowns.

When you say you take the bus often, you are on the right track.
It can be done but it takes work.
What you can do is go to a travel site and check out a tour you may be interested in. If you see something you like, put in on a calander and add a few extra days.
Find the best travel option to your city of choice. Once there you can go to the local CITS office and the bus station. You should be able to join a tour (Chinese ) with the local CITS. The local bus station can get you to your point of interest at a good price ( local Chinese ).
Also you may be able to hire a cab for the day.
I could add more but I have to have dinner now.

Let me check with my wife.
Her uncle is going back to China for about a month.
She will ask him how long his visa is for.
On a side note, her uncle had a US lawyer do his family's immigration.
When they got here, the lawyer died so they did not have to pay the fee.

Questions on application:
What did you specify in box 2.1
What did you specify in box 2.4
Did you put anything in Section 5

Next thing you know they will say "Chairman Mao once stayed here."
"Very Famous"

I just got done filling out all the forms for the visa service in San Francisco. After calling them to make sure all is in order they informed me that the consulate will not issue my wife a visa for longer than 30 days. This is a problem since we already bought the plane tickets and she plans on being in China for 41 days. Anyone else had this problem? Can she get her visa extended in Nanning at the police station? We applied for multiple entry visas.
I did a quick search and found this though it may be out dated.

You're in China.
It's not stealing; it's sharing.

My wife likes pplive.
One word of advice is you may want to get her a PC for her own use; higher end, able to handle multi tasking.
Once QQ is up and running, things will change.

I inquired about a one day pickup for the passport this is the reply
You can't pick up in one day. It usually takes 7 days. You may let somebody else pick up for you. When pick-up, pay cash or credit card.
We need her passport, green card, photoes, and application form.

How much will a passport cost, Maybe I am overlooking this. The website seems to be outdated by many years. On this forum it has been mentioned nothing by mail. on the website it still talks about a mail route.
My wife has to wait 45 days.
Also they made her make a copy of HER passport too.
Overall she said they weren't very friendly to her.
-
I just told my wife about it.
She said it is very famous and I was stupid for not knowing about it.
Thanks roger.

Have you thought about moving to Canada?
It's a nice place you know.

My wife took hers in at SF 2 weeks ago.
She was turned away the first time because she didn't have her GC.
-
Going with her ?
Nope...
Did she tell you not to go?

My wife just told me about it-I guess you called. Damned happy for you Jany. you deserve a break and Wa La--you got one. So now there is but one thing left to say----
WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Hi Trigg, I did call you twice. I got on CFL and sent you 2 message but didn't get any respond. I guess you might not get my message. So I called you but I got the voice-mail. So I posted my update and then call your home number again and talked to your wife. I sincerely want to say thank you to you and your friend Carl, Don and some other friend that I don't know their names for everything you have done for me and for my daughter. My husband is a kind man. He is very easy going and caring and loving, just like you. I am happy now. Thank you again, Trigg. I wish you and your family the best.
Hi Jany:
I too have been following your story.
You seem to be going forward with great speed.
When I stay in GZ, I see all of the new houses with solar on the roofs
so I am sure your business will flourish.
I think Trigg deserves a Mop Slap or two for not responding to your
messages. Maybe that has already happened.
Best wishes to you.

We just had one in Vancouver BC last month for our niece.
I had the honor of giving the bride away because her father encountered a passport delay.
You will have lots of fun.

Yes; that's why they parade you through business class at the end of your flight, hoping you'll get the message and buy a more expensive seat the next time.
