A lady posted (on 001) that she got denied because the letters from her GG are separate from the envelopes. I think this is outrageously ridiculous and totally unacceptable.

My fiancée will go for the interview on 12/9. We have prepared the following. I would appreciate it very much if you could make a check and to see what we miss. 1. Of course, P4 forms 2. My tickets, hotel receipts 3. Receipts for flowers 4. Copies of checks I wrote to her 5. Engagement ring and the receipt 6. I-134 plus employment letter, bank letter, IRS tax transcript and W-2 7. My (court-certified) divorce decree 8. Phone call records (from pincity and onesuite) from the past year (I was using other phone cards before) 9. photos, (pre-wedding photos, family photos and so on) 10. My passport, since I will fly back. BTW, I am originally from China, so we don't have communication problem. Thanks in advance, Wade

Totally agreed. New things keep poping up. I am trying to get everything i can, but still "what if..." haunts me all the time. What about w-2? 001 site posted that someone is required to provide it as part of "more document list". It's a great idea to visit this site daily. I think also it's good to ask ur love one to visit 001 site daily. It posts detailed (step by step) "homeworks" on interview experience. /Wade

where to stay in GZ?
yuanfen42 replied to yuanfen42's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
Thank u all for the info. -
I will fly in GZ on Dec 5 for my fiancee's interview on Dec 9. I would appreciate it much if u could recommend me a hotel to stay. My preferences are clean, taking US credit cards and having ac/heater. Thanks in advance, Wade

I am sharing exactly the same feeling. I am orginally from China and holding a decent IT job, I have been there 3 times in the last two years. I will fly to GZ on Dec 5 to join her for the interview on Dec 9. She has the ring and our wedding pictures and so on. But still from time to time, the feeling "what if I miss something" or "a blueslip for no reason but 'they need more time'", or what if... I am afraid this whole thing may drive me into a depression someday. Hopefully this whole thing will come to a happy ending. /Wade

One guy's rant on the INS
yuanfen42 replied to Squid's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
Since I have been an immigrant all the way, going through H1/greencard/citizenship, I can share the frustration. INS is the place I hate most to go to, even today. Most time they treat everyone as illegal. -
Please tell me I'm wrong
yuanfen42 replied to elcajongr's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
You can check "white swan" to see if p3 has been received. I think DOS looks at the same info as GZ, if GZ enters your 3 in the system both of them should see it. As far as responses from GZ, it depends on your luck. I sent them email/fax for almost two months, there was no response at all. Finally I gave up and started calling DOS. BTW, there is just way' to call GZ as DOS suggested. /Wade -
I think that with onesuite the reminder is something you can choose to have or skip.

ANOTHER PASSED INTERVIEW

Congrats! -
What does the p4 packet contain
yuanfen42 replied to dchangpr's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
You can't. The best thing to do is to let GZ know asap. You can fax them, this way you can write the address in Chinese. -
Congratulations! Thank u much for sharing the info.

When will her Interview be??
yuanfen42 replied to Drew21's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
Right now I think it's around 3 months at average. u can always call dos or email/fax GZ to check status. -
Tentative interview budget
yuanfen42 replied to elcajongr's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
airfare Chongqing to Guangzhou - - 2000 it seems over-expensive. I think u can get a deal around 600 RMB. -
Some of p4 forms ask specific travel plans for finacees or wifes. I do plan to book two tickets. But shall my fiancee fill this information as requested, because I get a feeling that GZ doesn't make travel arragement before interview. Thanks, Wade

Inexpensive Calling to China
yuanfen42 replied to Jason+Joanna's topic in General Visa Discussion & First Steps
I have been using a service provided by pincity, I get unlimited calls to China and within US, that costs 29.95+tax a month. -
I find the latest DS-156, DS-156k and DS157 on the net. Shall we use the latest instead the ones sent by GZ?

Quick question. Is my (certified) divorce decree needed when my fiancee has her interview? Thanks in advance, Wade
-
Yes, she does have the appointment letter in English. Probably it's just not labeled as OF-171. Thank you all, Wade
-
In GZ K1 FAQ, it lists as following for The appointment packet: ... Appointment letter for immigrant visa applocations (OF-171) .. and my fiancee's p4 doesnt include this one!
-
My fiancee received p4 yesterday. We do have a few questions. Any helps would be greatly appreciated. 1. Her p4 doesn't include OF-171 which is listed in GZ K1FAQ, do we need it? 2. The DS-156 has expiration date 08/31/2004, The DS-156K has expiration date 05/31/2004 ... basically most forms are expired. Is it all right? 3. What's DS-157 for? Thanks much in advance, Wade
-
In case you don't know yet, I just noticed that INS has a new version of I-134, which will expire on 04/30/07. Rev. 06/17/04. It says prior versions may be used until 09/30/04. I notarized one in July (older version). I need to do a new one. /Wade

Does anyone know if w2 is really required even if you your tax return from IRS and your letter of employment? My w2 still have marital status as married, that worries me to show it to VO. Thanks, Wade
