  1. Anyone have the link to the costs for medical and visa fees and any other fees preparing for interview. Thanks much.

I assume you've already got your pacakge4. Let me try to answer your question.

Medical exam: around 800RMB depend on wether you need to speed it up or not.

    Visa fees: $100

Other expenses? trip to GZ's cost will depend on where you live, where you eat all that....

    Hope that helps..

  2. It isn't so much the forms that I am worried about. How will she get into the consulate without the appointment letter ??

I¡¯m having a hell of a time trying to get GUZ to re-send the P4 that my wife never received. DOS says I can pick up the P4 at the consulate a few days before the interview. Has anyone ever done that??

I think many of the members on this site completed the required paperwork in a "dry-run" method. You can find copies of the p-4 paperwork here on this site and fill in the blanks, so that your partner can be prepared to complete the forms once they arrive, by copying from one to another. While many members have not had a problem using and submitting the p-4 forms they found online, there may be an anal VO or clerk that wants you to use only those forms supplied by their offices. In either case, you should have no problem. Just make sure that you're prepared to get the medical done at least two days before the interview, and no later than the day before.

You may want to have her call the consulate herself and make the request. They may make arrangements for her to get there a few days before the interview to pick up the paperwork. Have you been able to verify that the address they have on register for her matches her actual address. Has she received previous mailings, e.g., the P3? If so, I wouldn't fret too much about it, as they should be able to reprint that information and make it available for pickup; but again, someone, either you are her needs to nail that down via telephone...

    good luck...

She needs the P4 letter to do the medical exam.. depending on where you were hoping to do the medical, you probably want to get this letter sooner than later..

    I agree...

P4 or some sort of prove from GZ that she is legit to do the exam and interview...

They should have some way to cover it...

  3. Hi everyone,

Maybe I am being paranoid but some worries came up to my mind (I guess it happens to most of you). I was China for the first half of the year so my income will appear to be lower than it really is. I will have to show my tax forms and explain this to GZ, but the problem is that I had someone file my taxes for me (in my name) while I was in China. It won't make sense that I am in China but at the same time was able to file my taxes back home. Does anyone know if USCIS will know about this conflict?

Also I am going to have an engagement dinner this December and perhaps buy my fiancee an engagement ring. Is it wise to let GZ know of this during the interview and show them pictures of the dinner? The reason I ask this is because they may be suspicious that we are already married if they see the dinner pictures (which may look like a wedding ceremony to them and the ring) I heard that it is more difficult for couples who are already married to get a visa.

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

If you think the dinner party could make your relationship look stronger, then go ahead but you don't have to IMO. They might ask your SO when did you guys engaged(in my case they did), then she might talk about more details.

  4. P1 is your first notice of action from the USCIS service center, the Receipt that they got your case.

P2 is the second notice of action telling you that they are sending the case on the the state department, NVC.

  5. Yes I check almost everyday, and its frustrating when you look at their time table and they say their processing claims from April 11 2006. I would just like to know if anyones getting their P-2 . I look at time tables posted by other members and it seems just about everyone usually recieves their P-2 within a month or two after getting their P-1.

Going to check the USCIS website is a big joke but I check anyways.

Don't check it everyday... check it once a week...

That way you will feel much better! :P
