They might have asked GZ to resubmit ALL name checks ( in my case 1/14 ), but they certainly do not have ALL namecheck resubmitted by GZ, at least as of yesterday. GZ: resubmitting names will take time, please bear with us a little longer

I was once got Katherine's answer machine, and I left a message saying I was trying to check my case status, and left me phone number. A lady called me later and look up my case, which is good. However, these days, I don't take what DOS says so seriously...oh...the government...maybe it's time to change the leaders...

Is anybody, whose namecheck submitted in November, still in the waiting? It seems they resubmitted all cases from 8-10, but not 11-12 or the current ones. It seems also that either GZ or DOS cannot make their ends meet... What did they do in December, where does those 5000 dump go???

sometimes that does not go with ages, or how old you are, but rather goes with the generation - so it is highly possible that someone about the same age as yours call you grandfater the "red envelope" is a tradition, I guess in American, a grandfather would give his grandson stock shares or securities, like 2 shares of MOT but in China, cash is given out - usually they will say a prayer for you like best wishes for health, etc.

In short, Chinese New Year = Thanksgiving (reunion) + Christmas (celebration & gifts) + New Year (hope & wishes)

To me, this whole name check business sounds like a dying patient still taking pills to reasure himself...though he himself deep down knows the pills won't cure him. Maybe the GAO (General Accounting Office) at DC should do a cost-effective analysis on the way the state dept has been conducting its business so far... In history, did namecheck ever found out anything, I mean from China? If I were a spy, I would have used a business visa purpose instead of immigrating, something like hit and run...

James - the names checks, what do you mean by the 3rd package? is namecheck done in batch mode - I guess they are still using DOS not Windows so it is so slow...
