maxmilagro
Hi, everyone. I'm new to the site and grateful to have found it. Liang jun and I are hoping for an early March 2005 visa interview, especially now that I've booked my next trip to see her around that time! (Found a really good price NYC to Shanghai, $516.87 round trip.) I searched the site to see if anyone else uses Yahoo Messenger or another service to video teleconference with their SO but didn't find anything. I have spent two hours talking with Liang Jun every Sunday morning for the past six months and it's been a source of great comfort to us. Being able to see each other as well as talk is great. I joke about her latest hairdo and she advises me when it's time to trim my beard. Can't beat the price either. In fact, I don't remember if I pay anything at all for the service. I don't think so. I wish she could use SightSpeed (much better video) but the internet cafe she uses won't install it. Anybody have anything to say about this? Link to comment

MRMC
I use Yahoo messenger and MSN for talking. The webcam sure beats a standard telephone call. You can use a mic if your cam does not have a built in mic. It is free. I speak on the phone as well but nothing beats yahoo and MSN. What airline did u find such a reasonable price? Link to comment
se_lang
Best thing I have found is Netmeeting or MSN Link to comment
maxmilagro
Thanks for the replies. I found my tickets on Northwest Airlines via Orbitz. Would rather have flown United for the big frequent flyer miles but couldn't pass up the price. Now I just have to wait to see if we get the visa interview invitation in time. According to what Guangzhou told my congressman's office, we should be scheduled just about that time. That timeframe also jives with what I've been reading here--about 5 months from sending back the checklist until the visa interview. Jun sent her checklist back in the middle of September. I'm going to attempt to call the DOS tomorrow to see if they have us scheduled yet--I think I've used up about all of my congressman's office's goodwill with past pleas for help. (I can't prove it, but I think going through them was a help. At least it got me some answers in the past.) Didn't know before finding this site that a call was even a possibility. Link to comment
leejcandle
Our relationship practically started on Yahoo Messenger (October 2003), and grew from there! The difference is she got her own computer last May; no more internet cafe and "friends computer", fees, etc. We're on very many hours per day; we love the price. Link to comment
