White Swan and GZ Consulate

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone:

Today Xiao Ming called EMS, the express mail service in China, to make sure that our P3 was delivered safely. They told us that it was delivered to the White Swan Hotel, which apparently has the same address. We checked online, and sure enough they ARE the same. So I tried to call GZ to find out if they recieved our P3 and got a recording telling me to send an email. So I did, and this was my response:

"Thank you for your email.

Please be advised that we have not received any other documents since

we got the Form 230-I and Form 169 you returned to us on 29 Sep. 2004 . The case now is queuing up to be scheduled. Due to heavy workload volume, it seems

that the interview will be in approximately a few months, we will

notify

the applicant after the appointment date is set."

So I guess this means that they got everything and we are just waiting for our interview to be scheduled? The only problem is, we sent the 230 and 169 seperatly, the 169 was mailed on Oct 1 so how could they have recieved it Sept 29??

Anyone have any thoughts?

THANKS

Well, I would say that the information you found out is very positive. First it confirms that they received both documents even though they were sent separately, and Second: they used the date they received the first document as the 'received' date (or uploaded date) for your P3.

Sounds like you guys are about two months behind us. On my last email inquiry to GZ (yesterday), I received a response that our case would be scheduled within two months. Our P3 was sent on July 23rd and received by White Swan on July 26th. But for whatever reason they have it dated as Aug. 2nd in their computer as the 'received' date (which is the date they uploaded it in their computers).

From the sounds of things on the 001.com web site, my honey says it seems they are just now setting interview for P3s 'received' by GZ approximately July 1.

Hmm... a little bit confused about this White Swan hotel thing. So do all offical GZ mailings go through that hotel?? why??

Does anyone know if the hotel is owned by the US government?!? Is it a way for them to operate a business legally, without having to pay taxes because they claim it as diplomatic property?

I think for security and other reasons, the consulate has an agent at the White Swan Hotel to recieve incoming mail and parcels. This makes sense to me, because it may be difficult to gain access to the consulate at times. The White Swan is always open, and is next door to the consulate.

If I am wrong, please correct me.
