Squid
I didn't know if this is the right place to post this so if it is not please move it. Anyway, the link is to a forum where computer geeks post their angst. It is one guy's situational experience with the INS. Link beware: Much Much Profanity contained in the post but content is sound. Beware. ArsTechnica geek site Link to comment
nooneufo
Actually, reading this and the responses makes me feel a whole lot better about this whole process. Thanks. Link to comment
Jim - Portland, USA
Funny story! And a testament to the fact that sh*t happens to western European immigrants also, not just ones form Asia! Link to comment
yuanfen42
Since I have been an immigrant all the way, going through H1/greencard/citizenship, I can share the frustration. INS is the place I hate most to go to, even today. Most time they treat everyone as illegal. Link to comment
sylinchinastill
Yes- in my opinion they treated me like I was an illegal or criminal or something- and I'm the USC- not very nice, those people. Link to comment
calaf&turandot
I may be an exception. From student visa to green card to citizenship, all wentsmoothly. In fact, it took me only 3 months from the application of citizenship tothe oath. Only time I had to do extra work was when I forgot to renew my student visa out of my ignorance; I had to ask my department head to write a letter to INS stating I'm a genius rocket scientist (which I am not) or something. For K1 petition, INS says it takes 3-6 months somewhere on their website, andI got NOA2 at the end of 6 mos. It was long time but they kept their word. However, GZ process (P3 to P4) exceeded their expected time (4-6mos according to K1 FAQ) by 3-4 months. And they didn't respond to 4 out of 6 emails inquiries I sent, which is not very satisfactory to me. Overall, this is what we can expect from the government. Link to comment
