yave20b
Well, my beautiful fiancee just contacted me tonight and told me we are going to have a baby. We were not planning to have one at this time but on my last trip last month to see her I guess our plans changed. Anyway, any comments on how this will affect our K1? We are still waiting to receive P4. Who knows when that will be. It looks like our delivery date will be about June. Link to comment

I think they may just be willing to expedite things for someone that is about to have the baby, so that the baby can be born in the U.S., but you never know. E-mail them and ask. Link to comment
DaveR
I think Congraatulations are in order. Contact GZ and they will be able to better tell you how to handle this. Dave Link to comment
leejcandle
Yave20b, I was in Nanning with my sweetie last month also. We speculated about getting pregnant, because of the possibility of expedited processing. We're still waiting to know if we got 'lucky'. I'm in Round Rock, north of Austin, by the way. I should also put that in my sig. Congratulations.!! Link to comment
yave20b
Yeh I just checked the Consulate's Web site and they do say that if your fiancee is pregnant, and she has already received her packet, to contact them immediately and they MAY try to see if they can expediate things. But they would require a letter from my fiancee's doctor stating that she is indeed pregnant and when the due date is. Thanks for the information. Link to comment
yave20b
Lee, you're pretty close to me up there in Round Rock. It seems both of our fiancee's are from Nanning. Maybe we can talk sometime. I think both of our fiancee's would probably enjoy knowing there's another Nanning-ite nearby. Link to comment
tonado
Congrats. Hope they will expedite the interview. Last year I recalled reading that they won't do anything or else everyone will try to get pregnant. Link to comment
yave20b
Yeh I'm wondering if they really would expediate things or not. I'm not too sure they will. However, their own Web site says to "contact them immediately" if you are pregnant and you already have received package 3. It goes on to say they MIGHT be able to expediate things. And it says a letter from the doctor stating a diagnosis of pregnancy and due date are required. MIGHT and WILLING are two different things. I'm thinking if my fiancee's probable interview date was going to be February anyway, and our due date is about June, I doubt they will cut us any slack. But I will contact them anyway. Thanks to all for the advice. Link to comment
warpedbored
if I am not mistaken they expedited Sam and Nickola's case because of pregnancy. Link to comment
NY-Viking
Congrats. Hope they will expedite the interview. Last year I recalled reading that they won't do anything or else everyone will try to get pregnant.Yeah ... you'd think they'd be onto that trick ... lol. But since there is such an advantage to actually being born in the U.S., I do imagine that if it actually might make a difference, they would try to expedite the interview. But if your due date is in June and your interview is set for February, my guess is no expidited process. But it never hurts to ask. This is also probably pretty good evidence that you have a relationship, especially that you've met in the last two years. Link to comment

nooneufo
Please keep us informed as to how it goes. My fiancee and I have discussed this, and I think I have convinced her we want to minimize potential difficulties in light of the bad stories we read about. However, for myself I keep in mind if we should find ourselves in the same situation, after reading the following, is to be sure you have all the answers. 9 FAM 41.81 N6.6 Additional Factors That May Raise Questions in K-1 Cases (TL:VISA-581; 09-03-2003) a. There are several possible discrepancies between the facts stated on the petition and the actual circumstances of the K-1 beneficiary which might lead the consular officer to question whether the relationship is bona fide or which might cause the petitioner to choose not to go forward with the marriage. These include having one or more children not named in the petition, or a prior undisclosed marriage (even if it has been annulled or ended by divorce or death), or, in the case of a fiancée, a current pregnancy. leejcandle
I think the "current pregnancy" clause needs to be taken in context. If the pair hasn't seen each other for awhile, that might be a problem. I'm sure the American fiancee might have strong reasons to end the relationship if he suspects an unborn child isn't his. In our case, we discussed the timing of her period in relation to my having been with her. If she were pregnant, we would be able to vouch for our child with the other evidence of my visit and her subsequent conception. We're comfortable with the idea that we would be married already if it weren't for the wait. So now we're crossing our fingers and hoping she's pregnant with a girl. Link to comment
