Hi Honeydoooooo and welcome to CFL,

I live in Pahrump, 60 miles from Vegas, and have lived in Vegas for a few years. Vegas damn near has it all to me. The area offers much more beyond the gambling. Contrary to some peoples belief prostitution is illegal in Clark County. There are some areas that you wouldn't know that but I don't go to these areas. I do not frequent the strip or downtown areas (ex was a gambling addict). The strip area has reversed the desire to attract families and "sexed it up" in the past year or so. Outside the strip it can be like anytown USA if you want it to be. You may want to browse a few sites for Clark County, lots of real estate info on line (The house I sold in Vegas for $316,000 in Feb. is now over $550,000- but talked with an agent today and prices have recently fallen). Cheap property exists outside of Vegas. Vegas gets HOT! Today was 103/105 degrees F. in Vegas and Pahrump and never really broke a sweat. Does get to 115 at times. Last Wensday in Shanghai I took 3 showers and you probably know. lAny specific questions i.e., type of work, real estate, rentals please PM me. Richard

I don't live in Vegas but I have been there 4 times the last 3 years. Vegas is a desert. I am sure you can get a job at one of the casino/hotels. They do like to hire Mandarin speaking people to cater Chinese people who go to casinos and gamble. Vegas does have a small Chinatown (or plaza) Inside the Chinese plaza, there is a Sam Woo restaurant that is pretty good for noodles. Sam Woo Restaurants are everywhere in Southern California. Vegas is only 5 hrs to LA (if you drive over 85-90 mph).

??? 5 hours? What are you doing, stopping for a 2 hour meal at the BunBoy restaurant? 3.5 hours if you take your time, 2 hours 40 mins if you are in a hurry and driving a GT class vehicle.

I lived in Las Vegas for a year. If you are moving there take a look at a nearby master-planned community called "Summerlin". In my humble opinion Summerlin beats even Walnut, CA for community design.

The biggest suprise for me is how conservative Nevada/Las Vegas is. Conservative as in "No, we'll be keeping ALL of our guns, and we like our slot machines, indoor-smoking, brothels, no state income tax, and high speed limits just fine thank you-- take your commie ideas back to Kalifornia!"-conservative. Few things are quite as jarring as going into a supermarket and they guy in front of you has a Very Large shooting iron in a holster on his hip. Then you realize, that it must be legal here, and that if he were up to no good, he would not have his gun in a location where everybody can see it.

There is much more to Vegas than the casinos. While I lived there I would rarely go anywhere near the strip, there are plenty of restaurants and malls away from the madness.

Yes, it does get hot there, but it's a dry heat. And EVERYWHERE has AC.

Sorry,it's my first time for visiting here,i probably click wrong icon which i want to way thanks for your answers.

Is that hot even in winter?and  i will take look the places u gays mentioned, ;)

Only hot during the summer. It's dry, not humid, so it does not feel as hot as it actually is. Sunny almost the entire year around. During the winter it can get very cold, but only at night. Hardly any rain at all. There is a smallish Chinatown there (I used to live in the condos behind the Chi-Town plaza). Lots of wide open spaces. Due to the topography you can stand in one city and see what is going on miles away in another city.

Get away from Vegas out into the desert and you will see billyuns of stars at night.

I am talking about LA downtown, not edge of LA. Traffic can be a snail sometimes there. I think 4 hr is right.

Hey Tony,

A Chinatown Vegas to Chinatown LA run? That sounds about right.

Kinda like 8.3 hours from Vegas to Northern Ca., SF County.

Going to SF Chinatown and FINDING a place to park + 2-3 hours. Richard

Yes,

When we talk about distance, it is always from Chinatown to Chinatown. Unlike SF Chinatown, parking in LA Chinatown is easy.
