jyeno
Hi Guys, I've been informed that my case has been approved and was mailed to GUZ on April 3rd 2004. I just recently wrote an email to GUZ asking if they received my case yet. The email reply tha I got was this: "After NVC notifies an applicant that they have shipped the petition to the Consulate, typically it takes 60 to 120 days for file/petition to bereceived and processed by post. This time period includes the time required to clear China's customs, security screening of the boxes when they are received by post, and then sorting and processing time for the Immigrant Visa Unit." The timeline seems a bit odd to me, so I called NVC to find out what was going on. The operator told me that the package should be delivered to GUZ within 2 weeks and that I should call the GUZ consulate immediately to find out what is going on. I was given a number to call but end up with the damn automated messaging system (i.e. no real person to speak with). I've been reading a lot of post and a lot of the members seem to know exactly when the approval from NVC was sent to GUZ. How do you get this information and is there any way to find out if my file is sitting somewhere and not lost through the mail? Thanks for your help.-Jay Link to comment
keelec
Welcome Jay, Best of luck for a speedy and successful interview. Yep, that sounds like what I have heard in the past. Actually, you will probably be somewhere on the low end of the scale (around 60 days). It takes about 1 week for the applications to get to China. However, they have some customs and other paperwork to go through before they can be picked up by the consulate. Then, the consulate infrequently picks up the applications. Thus, it seems to take between about 2 weeks and 40 days or so just to get everything to the GZ consulate. Once at the consulate, they won't admit having it until after they open the box of applications and enter them into the computer. The P3 packet normally comes shortly after that. Recently, the consulate has been getting a bit faster and more efficient at sending out the P3 packets (couple of weeks after the applications are delivered, I think). Here are a couple of notes that were posted a while ago. I don't know how accurate they are: Don's Notes on GZ Procedures: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....t=ST&f=1&t=3935 Dan's Description, DHL Packages NVC to GZ http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....t=ST&f=1&t=4114 Good Luck,Clifford Link to comment
frank1538
It sounds like you know that the files were sent on April 3rd. Check this link: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index....65dd09dda0071d4 Using the information that you have (date sent, sender address, destination address), you can probably get a waybill number by calling DHL. Then you can go to the DHL website and track the number to determine if it has been delivered to GZ. Chances are you will find several shipments to GZ from NVC, so you'll have to use your best judgment on which one is yours. Usually it's the one that says "clearance delay". Once the package is actually received by GZ, it will take several weeks before they get around to entering it into their system. Until they actually post the information into their database, GZ will not acknowledge that they have your files. Link to comment

jyeno
Guys, thanks for the feedback. I called NVC to listen to my status again to verify the date. My files were sent on April 2nd, not April 3rd. Not sure why the 3rd kept sticking to my head. I guess that's good news since se_lang mentioned in his post that "EXP/02 APR 2004 A = 9155028492 Delivered" was delivered. Hopefully my files were in those boxes. I will call DHL tomorrow to verify. Since that shipment was cleared by clearance, I guess I'm just waiting for GUZ to pick it up and put it into their system. Hopefully that doesn't take too long. Once again, thanks for everyone's feedback. -Jay Link to comment
oregonknl
JAY! WELCOME TO THE CLUB!! I have been on the site for several weeks, and ~ as it turns out, you and us ( Kim and Fei) are in exactly the same position... Clifford and Frank are giving you good advice. Unless something has gone seriously astray, our applications are in the limbo of Chinese customs... (ours sent April 7) -- And part of that problem is that they slowed down before the May 1-7 Chinese holiday, and will probably be: "'BACKLOGGED~! (so sorry!) --- for sometime afterward... so our timing isn't the best... Lets keep in touch -- its possible we will be in GZ together.... --- Kim Link to comment
oregonknl
Hummm.... Se-lang might have even better information! ---Kim Link to comment
