Letter from Employer Needed for Joint-Sponsor?

I will be using my brother as a Joint Sponsor on the I-864. His income is obviously stated on his tax returns from every year and every year his income has been well above the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Is a letter from his employer verifying his current salary a required document?

My wife used a joint sponsor for her mother, neither she nor the joint sponsor provided one and mother got visa.

 

However the interviewing officer could always demand one.
