Randy W
One way, anyway - from the Shanghaiist LOOK: Half-naked college couples make beautiful zongzi together Quote In case this all seems very bizarre to you, you should at least know that tomorrow is Dragon Boat Festival. A day that you celebrate mostly by eating triangular rice dumplings. Make some zongzi with your special someone or just go out to the market and pick up a package of Captain America-branded ones. Though we should also mention that not everyone is convinced by this method: "Not one of these idiots will be sticking together," commented one netizen. "What kind of stupid activity is this? Were they all drunk?" wondered another. Edited January 2, 2021 by Randy W (see edit history) Link to comment

With a history of over 2,000 years, its origin is traced to the death of the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan (340-278 BC), and it is celebrated in various ways across China and in its neighboring countries. Dragon boat racing and eating Zongzi are traditional highlights. Legend holds that the race originates from the people who rowed to save Qu Yuan when he drowned himself. Zongzi are made to feed the fish in the river, preventing them from eating his body. In some regions of China, it’s also a day of hygiene, when people use herbs to dispel disease and insects. For example, they put a perfume pouch or hang mugwort leaves or calamus on their doors. MikeandRong
Just down the street from us is a lake where they have a very competitive boat race each year. Lots of competitors of the club come from all over the Midwest. While not as visually stimulating as being in China, they row with the same energy and exuberance. From last years newspaper of one of the races. Edited January 3, 2021 by Randy W (see edit history) Link to comment

MikeandRong
Dang, I couldn't do that standing on the ground let alone on the water. Wonder how the lumberjack log runners would stack up against them. My bet would be on the bamboo drifters, but I bet it would be pretty darn close. Link to comment
