Randy W
Birthday WEEK? I'm thinking your are missing some mustard, though There are two different kinds - Reine Dijon, and Clovis whole grain, there on the right side of the plate. Both very good. Randy W
re-posting here - This is the little shop in Nanning where we buy our USDA steaks, cheese, butter, bacon, bacon, spices, etc. The store information is right there on the sign - it's Zhenning Shuichan on Hangzhou Lu.

Randy W
When I started this thread, I had meant to post about a new import shop in town - the AGM Experience. But as the expiration dates on a LOT of their merchandise is approaching, they've decided to pack up and move to Guizhou! They are offering a 30% discount on everything, but I had already bought them out of Doritos. I'll miss the worcestershire sauce, whole grain mustard, and Doritos, of course, but I won't miss the prices, usually like I've said, '2xAs'. I guess for now I'll have to refer to them as the '1.4xAs' store (do the math).

Randy W
On the other hand, some very GOOD news. I'll be looking for a source that can ship to Yulin (the nearest airport is in Nanning), although I may just stick with the USDA Choice I've been buying at that little shop in Nanning. First US beef exports on the way to China by plane, ending a 14-year ban by Beijing The first shipment of US beef to China under a new trade deal went airborne on Wednesday, a Nebraska meat company said, just two days after Washington finalised details to resume exports, ending a 14-year ban. Greater Omaha Packing Co said it shipped beef by plane to China from Nebraska, a top US beef producing state, to meet strong demand. “They want it right away,” Chief Executive Officer Henry Davis said about Chinese consumers. Beijing banned US beef imports in 2003 after a US scare over mad cow disease, but last month agreed to allow US shipments by mid July as part of a broader trade deal. Greg.D.
So, do you have a grill? My MIL was impressed with our grill, definitely not an option for high rise apartment dwellers in China. Amazon, which is still hanging on in China, insults they want to be in the food delivery business and may be a beef source eventually (I looked at Greater Omaha's prices - wow!) I don't grill steaks - as far as delivery here, the nearest airport is 3 hours away, so I don't think it'll work. Yeah, I hadn't thought of it as being THAT Omaha Steaks, but I'll probably still check it out if I can. I've bought Aussie steaks at TWICE what I pay for USDA Choice. I'm still hoping for new food sources in Shenzhen. Edited June 15, 2017 by Randy W (see edit history)
Randy W
About the previous meat trade to China - from the U.S. Meat Export Federation U.S. beef exports to China and Hong Kong have soared this year as rising inco…The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) and the U.S. industry have identified and marketed to a burgeoning demand among targeted Chinese buyers of U.S. beef. As recently as two years ago, U.S. beef sales in China were limited to small-volume, niche purchases by top-tier hotels, and a wider but seasonal demand for U.S. short plate by “hot-pot” restaurants. Now, from Shenyang in Northeast China, to Xian in the west, stretching to the Pearl River Delta border towns, U.S. beef is appearing in a wide range of foodservice establishments, and is being identified and featured as U.S. in origin. The range of U.S. beef cuts is also widening, along with the ways of preparing them.
Randy W
Bringing meat back from Hong Kong might be problematic, and the malls in Shenzhen seem to be mostly of the foo-foo variety (high priced, prestige-type items). But NEW (at least to me) on Taobao are Mission tortillas (genuine Tex-Mex) as sold to KFC, and Hormel sausages, including Spanish chorizo andgarlic bratwurst, and pastrami. Nice breakfast tacos, withe the picante sauce. Nothing seems to have come of the new US beef imports, but I can still buy my USDA Choice ribeyes in Nanning.
