final I-864 question, I hope!

Recommended Posts

In part 5 of the I-864, section 3. says to put "0" if unmarried, "1" if married. I am married and sponsoring my husband on the I-864 and don't want to count him twice. Should I leave this area blank or put "0?"

If my income was a negative amount how can I enter this on the form? It won't allow me to put a negative amount.

Exactly what it says - "put '0' if unmarried, '1' if married". When you total up the number of sponsored individuals, don't count him twice (in this case 1 + 1 => 1).

0 will do fine for anything less than 0.

It says persons NOT sponsored... If you are sponsoring your spouse with this I-864 then the answer is ZERO you already counted your spouse as the person you are sponsoring.

This section seems to confuses people all the time you are not alone.

It is not asking if you are married or un-married, it is asking you to total up the members of your household including the person being sponsored.

Studying the new PDF file provided by USCIS..

You count the person(s) you are sponsoring in the box circled. If you are sponsoring spouse they are counted in the circled box, not counted as your spouse.
