L.G.
I am helping my wife fill out the DS-160 for her mother, her sister, and her sister's husband so that they will be able to visit us later this year. My wife and I are still in China and will not be back until July, but want to submit this while we are here so that we can go with them to submit in Shanghai. Question is: how do we answer "Do you have any other relatives in the US?". We are not in the US, but my parents are? Are they technically relatives for this purpose as "in laws" or should we stick with NO as the answer? Link to comment
dnoblett
Yes, you are relatives in the U.S. Your wife should be a green-card holder and considered residing in the U.S. even when visiting China. Do not be surprised if there is a denial, my mother in law visited us last year, the first time she applied for visa, my wife's sister and nephew tried at the same time and all were denied, so we had mother in law apply a second time and she got a visa.
