PaulandBetty
Hello everyone. Today I received the great news that my wife's visa was approved! We are very happy that it only took 5 1/2 months. I am waiting for instruction from the government. What can i expect now and how long before i can bring my wife to the US? Link to comment
dnoblett
After the interview they direct you to pay a green-card processing fee here: http://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-immigrant-fee As for how soon can travel, that would be as soon as you have passport with visa in hand along with the immigration packet, typically a few days after interview it arrives at the CTIC location you specified. Randy W
From what you posted, it sounds like it was the I-130 petition that was approved, not the wife's visa application. If that is the case, she will be directed to set up an account on ustraveldocs.com A quote from http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/46807-guide-to-ir-1-dcf/ Step Three: DS-260 (online) Approximately four to six weeks after you file with the embassy, you will receive an email from the Immigration Visa Unit of the US Consulate General in Guangzhou. This email will outline the next steps in the immigration process. The email is very detailed. As long as you follow the directions, this step will go smoothly. Link to comment
dnoblett
Yes, a little more details please.Where was the I-130 filed? In the states or a USCIS Beijing/Guangzhou?Was a visa approved at an interview at the consulate, or just the petition approved by USCIS? Link to comment

No, you do not need to provide job updates to the consulate. She can simply answer all questions truthfully. Link to comment

There are two very different processes depending on where it was filed. If filed at USCIS in Beijing or Guangzhou, the consulate will make contact instructing you to go here: http://ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp If filed in the USA, then the next steps will be here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html (Pay extra attention about electronic processing (Choose Method 1: Email processing) at this point: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html ) Link to comment
