Adultery

I guess I lived outside the US too long as I was actually shocked to see advertisements for an adulterous website on television the other day. I find is so disgusting that I don't even want to type the name. I'm not the only one unhappy about it either.

Social media campaign to block ********* takes off in Singapore

The Singapore expansion plans of an international dating service promoting adultery has ignited a social media protest and a sharp rebuke Friday from the city-state's social affairs minister. Local media earlier this week reported that ***********, which offers a discreet dating service for those looking to have affairs, was planning a Singapore launch next year, sparking a Facebook petition that has drawn over 11,000 people so far.

The Canada-based website, which boasts more than 20 million users in more than 15 countries and is infamous for its slogan "Life is short. Have an affair", has been aggressively expanding in Asia, with recent launches in Japan, India and Hong Kong. "I do not welcome such a website into Singapore. I'm against any company or website that harms marriage," Chan Chun Sing, Singapore's Minister for Social and Family Development, said in a Facebook post on Friday.

"Promoting infidelity undermines trust and commitment between a husband and wife, which are core to marriage," he said in a post he said was in response to media reports of the planned Singapore launch. "Our marriage vows make it clear that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. This includes staying faithful to one another."

I don't understand. On the one hand you are so shocked that you cannot include the name of the site in your post, yet provide us with a link with the site name and all the details. Rather disingenuous don't you think?

This website will not cause 1 more case of adultery than if the website did not exist. Freedom of expression and speech is fundamental to free society, and this is outrageous or more shocking than the millions of porn websites on the internet? People have been committing adultery since the dawn of man, and they will continue until the earth is swallowed by the expanding sun.

I think it is more outrageous that people are trying to block the site, do they really want censorship of what they have access to on the internet? You lived in China, did you enjoy being told what you could and could not access on the news or internet? Allowing people to block a website that is not causing any physical harm to anyone is the slippery slope that you never crawl back up.

Why yes. I am but one and you are many. Try committing and refer to yourself as yourself instead of hiding behind the coats of others.

Oh, and by the way Dennis, my overwriting the name of the website had nothing to do with the eyes of members on this site. I did it simply so the name would not appear to trawlers and crawlers that paw over this website looking for strings of words. I choose not to advertise for them. It looks like most everyone in America knows about that disgusting website by now as it's ads appear on prime time TV.

Correct. I did live in China and found that I was bothered by the same sort of pretentious poppy cock there as what exists here in the US. You have a perspective that opening a cesspool and inviting everyone to jump in helps the world be a better place. In your world, perhaps, but not so in mine. There is a place that lives somewhere between China and the West in which morality is not a dirty word and witnessing people behaving badly turns an eyewitness to crime into a group of onlookers cheering that it's good for education and soul.

This is an interesting topic and one that can spawn much discussion relevant to the direction(s) our culture is headed in. I would encourage everyone to keep all comments civil and respectful as there is nothing to be gained by attacking one another. :signthankspin:

An Italian husband and wife were having dinner at a very fine restaurant when this absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big open-mouthed kiss, then says she'll see him later and walks away.
The wife glares at her husband and says, "Who was that?"
"Oh," replies the husband, "she's my mistress."
"Well, that's the last straw," says the wife. "I've had enough, I want a divorce!"...
"I can understand that," replies her husband, "but remember, if we get a divorce it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more wintering in Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany , no more Jaguar in the garage and no more yacht club. No more credit card and large Bank accounts. But.... The decision is all yours."
Just then, a mutual friend enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm.
"Who's that woman with Tony?" asks the wife.
"That's his mistress," says her husband.
"Ours is prettier," she replies.

The "advertisement for them" lies in the use of the word "Adultery" and (would lie in) the link to the web site. Just sayin'.

I'm a little more coherent now that I've had my morning coffee, but not much more.
