NVC Case Ready

Today nvc ceac shows our case is ready. The protocol has changed a lot so need help on how things will go now. We've completed the I-160 online for both k1 and k2, and printed/saved the confirmation. I am finishing up the financials to send. She has ordered police reports for herself and daughter. So, do we just wait for paperwork in mail or can she do the medical now and pay fees? I haven't been able to find a step by step procedure for GZ K1, so thanks in advance for you help

She will also need from Notary office

• A certificate of no marriage (Unmarried Cert)
• A birth cert
• A Police cert
• If prior married;
  • Divorce cert
  • Death cert if widowed
• All need to include English translations.

For K-Visas the Affidavit of support for the visa is I-134, the consulate tends to treat the I-134 as if it is an I-864 so it is recommended to follow what I-864 instructions indelicate for financial evidence.

• Copy of prior 3 year tax returns or transcripts
• Copy of past 6 months pay stubs
• A letter from employer

I would wait till closer to interview time to handle medical because it has a shelf life, and if it expires before adjustment of status, USCIS can and sometimes does demand another expensive medical done for adjustment of status. It is highly recommended to get vaccinations handled in China and have the DS-3025 from vaccinations in a separate envelope to carry to the states to be used when adjusting status.

Thanks for all the additional information Dan. Of course I am familiar with most of the documentation and other requirements, it's just that the process for collecting and paying for things has changed a lot from 2005.

 

You mentioned in another thread that it takes weeks and even months for cases to move from the NVC to the Consulate. Maybe it's working that way for non-K1 applicants as I learned from my Senator's office that K1 applicants move from the NVC to consulate in 7-10 days and often in less than one week as mine did. My case was sent to the NVC on May 8, and then arrived at Guangzhou today, May 16, or eight days/six business days.

 

Something strange happened with my case last week as I was only notified with this message:

 

 

 

On May 8, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

 

I have not been previously informed that the case had been approved, and the case status just magically jumped from initial review to post decision activity. I have not received the I-797C (Notice of Action) form of the approval so I called the USCIS to find out why. After getting to a tier-2 person I learned that it had been approved on May 3, but that a notification was not sent. He escalated the issue to get the form sent to my home, but also stated it may take as long as two weeks to arrive. I asked several times why I had not been notified of the approval and why the form had not been sent, but he was unable to answer. Perhaps my case was pushed through in a hurry to beat the five-month processing timeline and in so doing passed by the required step.
