Recently I made a second visit to the lovely city of Lijiang, in Yunnan province. It is located in the Himalayan basin, with the mystical city of Shangrila not too far away. The ethnic groups are protected and supported by the Chinese government and work hard to maintain their heritage.

After a trip horseback riding in the mountains surrounding Lijiang, I stopped into a Lhasi teahouse with some friends. The Lhasi women are known for their colorful dress and hard work. The husband of the Lhasi woman is not required to work, and in fact, I am not sure what he is expected to do for the woman.

While receiving tea from young Lhasi woman, she spoke of how the man is not expected to work, and that only women work. I jokingly asked her if she would like to marry me. She laughed and said my skin was too light colored and that I would not be able to adjust to their lifestyle.

All in all, I find Yunnan to be full of surprises and wonder.
