bubbahotek
I'm trying to enroll my stepdaughter in school but the school says she can't go to school until she gets her green card. She's received her welcome letter last week but nothing sense. We arrived in the country back in June. The wife has her green card but not the stepdaughter. How long should we wait before I follow up on where it's at? Anyone else have any problems enrolling their kids in school? Link to comment
RobertH
school is wrong. Go in show the letter talk to the principle if needed. Link to comment
Randy W
Assuming she arrived on a CR-2 or IR-2 visa, show them her I-551 stamp in the passport. Green card = I-551. . . . and what Robert said. Link to comment
dnoblett
Exactly, show passport, it serves as a temporary green card for up to 1 year as per the notation next to the I-551 stamp. You should also be able to get step daughter her SSN using the passport, they school may want a SSN too. Link to comment
bubbahotek
Ok, we got everything straightened out. Now I have a question. My daughter received her third "Welcome" Notice of Action letter. How many should she receive until she receives her green card. The wife received 1 "welcome" letter and a NOA letter then the green card all within a week. Why is there such a delay for the stepdaughter? Link to comment
bubbahotek
Step daughter received her green card yesterday. All is well. 1 Link to comment
