Administrative Processing Time?

My wife had her interview on July 10, and the visa was approved. Since then we shipped the passport from Shanghai back to GZ and it arrived on July 12th. Since then it has shown to be in "Administrative Processing. They have not asked for any additional documents or anything.

 

What does this mean, that it is in que because of a backlog or they just haven't gotten to it? How long is the typical wait time? We are scheduled to leave at the end of August. Any help on this would be appreciated.

The consulate closed on the 12th for the move, which took one to two weeks for the various departments. So you were delayed at least that long because of the move.

 

Even so, the two weeks since the move was complete is a very long delay. You might contact them through their email form
