Addresses in DS160 for B2 Visa: English or Chinese?

Hi Everybody,

 

For a B2 visa app there is an online DS-160 form that asks for home and business addresses. Should we put these in as Chinese or as English translations & transliterations?

 

The embassy website says to handwrite name and addresses in Hanzi on the confirmation page, but we're not sure about on the actual DS-160.

 

Also, how will the embassy correspond with us? Is any information sent to the home address provided, or is correspondence done by email, phone, or some other method? (If anything is mailed out, we're obviously thinking that we need to put the address on the DS-160 in Chinese)

On my wife's visa application addresses were written in Pinyin and never should be translated into English.

 

As the website sugests Hanzi (Chinese characters) would be even better, this way if they have to mail anything it should be received.

 

For example the US Consulate Guangzhou address:

 

 

Physical Address:

5/F Tian Yu Garden, Phase II

136-142 Lin He Zhong Lu, Tianhe District, Guangzhou

广州市天河林和中路136-142号天誉花园二期五楼

 

 

Mailing Address:

No.1 South Shamian Street, Guangzhou 510133

广州市沙面南街1号 邮编510133

Notice the consulate does not translate the address into English, it is PinYin or Chinese. (Guangzhou is Pinyin for 广州) Also note in China addresses are written from largest to smallest (City, Street name, then street number)

 

I believe if your computer is set up to use Chinese Characters the form will accept them, if not, then use Pinyin address.
