Randy W
Yes, that is officially a "long time". Unfortunately, theyy aren't very communicative during this time. Some information from 2003 and 2008 http://candleforlove.com/forums/topic/2821-nvc-to-gz-mail-delay/?p=28295 Link to comment
dnoblett
Yep, looks like the long customs delay has returned for physically shipped cases from NVC to GUZ. Link to comment
luoboluobo
Give it a week or so and then contact NVC either by phone or email. 603-334-0700 NVCINQUIRY@state.gov Provide them with USCIS case number, and the name an date of birth of beneficiary and petitioner, they will provide you status and the GUZ number assigned. A week or two after NVC indicates the case has been sent on to Guangzhou, contact them by using email form asking if they have received case, and provide them with updated contact info. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/immigrant-visa-unit-question.html Once they indicate P3, then follow the instructions here: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.aspThanks so much, I'll be reading more and probably popping in for a question or two as the interview inches closer 1 Link to comment
lilming
I'll be in HK/GUZ doing a visa run next month. Would it help if I stopped by the embassy and ask whats up? Can I do that during their regular hours? Link to comment

Can I do that during their regular hours?Nope, the IV unit is a different group from the American Citizen unit, they will have nothing. There was a time when they had a US citizen hour once a week where you could visit and ask about pending cases, but that has been discontinued, only communication is through the online form I linked above.
