chinchillax
I am getting married to a Taiwanese woman in 3 months, and we will apply for marriage license in Taiwan. However, Taiwan registration requires these two certifications (single and in comliance with the laws). Where can I obtain proof that I am single and I have not committed any crimes in the US? Randy W
Getting Married in China To legally get married in China, you will gather the required documents and present them to the appropriate Chinese authorities. Any ceremony is optional.Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. - Marriage Registration in China (includes a sample single affidavit) The one from the Embassy doesn't seem to be there anymore - this is from the Houston consulate - http://houston.china...age/jh.htm#aossBut Visa Express gives this example - http://www.visaexpre...inglestatus.htmYour choiceThe required documents may be certified in China by taking them to a consulate/Embassy. The documents may be ready in time to get married (register) that same day. In the states, it must be notarized then sent to your state's department of state for notarization...then sent to the Chinese consulateForeign-Related Marriage And Divorce In China Police certificates may be obtained from each city you have lived in, and then certified by the Secretary of State of that state, with that certification verified by the appropriate Chinese consulate. I'm not sure, though, if this is what Taiwan would be looking for for proof that you have not committed any crimes. You may need to look into this a little bit. Also for the Chinese certification - you need to figure out which consulate that you will need to go to. The single certification would be easiest to obtain at the American consulate in Taipei. dnoblett
The singleness doc can be applied for through your state's department of state office, it probably will need to be authenticated by the consular section of the Taiwan consulate. http://www.taiwanembassy.org/US/ct.asp?xItem=13611&ctNode=2316&mp=12 They have offices located in several cities located around the USA, you can have the authentication done at the one nearest where you live for you perhaps Chicago.http://www.taiwanembassy.org/US/CHI/mp.asp?mp=27 As for criminal background check, that is something to check with your local police, sheriff, or state police department, probably will require fingerprinting. This too may need to be authenticated by the Taiwan consulate. Single Cert is a fairly common topic, US Citizen Background check is not as common. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?/tags/forums/Single+Status/ Link to comment
