Effective as of Aug 1, a New Visa Requirement

Recommended Posts

Picked upo my visa yesterday. Arrived 10 minutes after they closed. Door was locked. I opened the back exit door. The guard was across the room, waved my passport receipt at him and he waved me in. Two windows finishing the last applicants. Got out in 4 minutes. I applied for single entry but got multiple. I guess China likes me.

I believe they discontinued single entry visas some time ago and issue multiple entry ones as the standard.

So they don't like me? :'(

Any updates on current visa regulations? I'll need to get one in May, though hopefully my employer (a university) will handle the invitation letter part. Thanks!

Nope - you get to be on the cutting edge, and . . . let us know how it goes!

Update: New Visa Requirement

Per Oasis china visa web site

https://www.oasischinavisa.com/tourist_visa.html

It seams as though the requirement for tourist visa still stands as before.

Invitation Letter issued by companies, corporations, institutions and

individuals in China. If the invitation letter is issued by an

individual in China, the photocopy of the ID of the individual is

required. Or, applicant should provide a photocopy of the round trip

airline ticket and hotel reservation

I just got off the phone with Oasis and confirmed for I'm helping a buddy of mine that will be going to Chongqing with Hong and i this May.

Oasis stated they do not have a time frame if/when this restriction will be lifted.

I have the Q1 all filled out for my buddy and will have my wife write up the invitation letter for him.

We will just use my wife's Chinese ID for it is still valid.

I will be sending the application (Q1) for my buddy tomorrow.

We should have an answer/questions by early next week.

I will keep everyone updated on the statues.

On a side note: seeing this is a old thread we will see what happens.

Keep us posted if your friend has any issues and any change in procedure.

I would suspect they will relax the requirements some time, they did after the 2008 Olympics, hopefully they do again now that the elections are well over.

Just a small update:

Oasis sent fedex tracking number today.

Oasis web site says nothing about denied or approved.

Just says sent with tracking number.

We never got any phone calls/emails asking for more info.

IMO: No contact from embassy/oasis is good news.

Once we see passport with visa/no visa.

I'll update with more detail info as soon as tomorrow but no latter than next Tuesday.

Well my buddy received his passport back from Oasis today with a new China visa stamped in it.

This is the first visa and passport ever for him.

Though it seams as if one is traveling to china we STILL need a invitation letter!!

Though my buddy never got a call nor did my wife and i ( Both my wife and i took care of all visa paper work for him) from Oasis or the embassy in Washington DC.

BUT!! my sister in law DID! get a call from the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC.

They asked her name and also asks her the name of who she was inviting to Chongqing (BOB) she answered the question just fine for we sent

her all the info in the visa application.

It was only a 5 minute call and everything was fine, Visa was issued then.

I filled out the Q1 (Visa application form) myself with Bobs info as we would normally do.

MY wife filled out the invitation letter with her sister info (address, phone number and what site seeing they will see) and used my wife's Chinese ID card that is still valid.

She used this form for the invitation letter.

http://www.mychinavisa.com/pdf/Invitation_Letter_for_Tourist_Visa.pdf

(Just fill in the blanks and follow the instructions on the form)

What we sent in the visa packet:

1) Visa application form (Q1) singed by applicant.

Original and valid passport with one passport style photo.

1) Invitation letter filled out (Do not leave any lines/boxes blanks, use the power of N/A) by invitee or your wife as long as your wife STILL has valid Chinese ID card.

Photo copy's of invitee (or your wife's) Chinese ID card

If using Oasis the confirmation (Payment) Email you receive after you make payment to Oasis, included this with the packet.

Or what every service you use send the payment confirmation letter you receive with the visa packet.

Then send to visa service of your choice by ether by FEDEX/UPS or USPS as long as you get a tracking number to follow the statues.

Once sent, Sit and wait for a week and you should have a Chinese visa.

Make planes for travel, buy tickets and enjoy your trip/vacation.

Thanks for the update Mike. My wife and son are leaving for a 3 month stay back home May 28th through Sept 2nd. I want to join them for a stay so I can see ma and ba and the brothers and their daughters...so, I'm gonna need another visa.

I go to our local AAA office and they always take my passport and send it in for me...forget which agency they use in particular. At least I know what to give them thanks to you.

I hear ya. I had to get a new passport and it only has one or two visa stamps in it so this time I'll send in the old one with it's various visas in it as well as the new one. That and a copy of our marriage, the invite letter to stay in our home, and a plane reservation hopefully will get me the 2 year visa.. Doesn't really matter as long as ma and ba stay healthy enough. I want Wenyan to make some off season trips to see them.

Our tenative plan is to take a trip together back down to Australia and New Zealand in 2014 when the boy is safely tucked away in his dorm at Penn State. I can't wait to see my ol' mates down yonder again, sit with them on their verandas, listening to the occassional kookaburra laughing in the gum trees, and we laugh about life below them. My favorite spot of all is sitting on a hillside gazin' out at Coonurin out there with his brothers and sisters in the Glasshouse mountains just north of Brisbane, as the ancient sounds of the Aboriginals soothes my brain......opps, I'm wandering off on a walkabout again.

Have a good trip,Mike, it's always fun to visit China.
