bergamot
Most time I read posts here, diving deep in water, enjoy it ,people are very nice ,considerate at CFL My husband took me to Salt lake office for biometrics twice ,because USCIS's computer doesn't recognise my chinese finger prints. First time, after 20minutes process of cleaning and printing my fingers ,the frustrated lady finally said ,OK, let's see if it works. then took a picture for me for my future green card, I got another appointment letter a month later .it was pretty fast printing this time, I was told I had no finger prints (pretty sure it was because they grounded my fingers too long on their computer last time). I asked if I had to wait another month to get another appointment, and told no, they only do it twice whatever kind of fingers they have to deal with. Oops, I guess I am qualified for bank robbery During the process, I got RFE mail twice: 1st time ,asking for previous devorce paper of my husband,(I was asked the same RFE for K1,) I put 2 stamps on the envelope in case it be too heavy and sent by USPS, they did not get it until 10days later. 2nd time asking for certification of good conduct both in China (it was included in K1 paper and AOS application package,too--strange!) and here.I sent by USPS express mail , they got it next day .The very first thing I did when I landed here was applying for SSN, although I was told that my information did not show yet in their computer, they took my ss-5form, looked at my passport, I-94,and birth notary paper. I got SSN 2 weeks later.Next ,I went to bank with my husband trying to join his bank account (for the envidence of AOS),were told SSN was not enough, they need solid evidence for the address of my residence (received envolop was not enough). So we went to driver's license office for my learner permit, fortunately I got it that day The 3rd is AOS application .we sent the paper by Fedex on Oct 17.(I did vaccine shots right after we collected my K1 visa from the post office in Guangzhou).I included the envolope of vaccine evidence from the clinic of Guangzhou addressed to USCIS in my application.--the clinic gave me the envolope right after the vaccine shots. But I did not go to CS for signature or second round of shots here .my case transfered to CSC on Nov 8, I checked my status on Feb 17, and was surprised that it jumped to the last circle.--What !? no interview ?! On Feb 23,I got the green card envelope. Now I have to learn to drive in those crazy mountain curves on highway in 70mph In the AOS application package the following were included(I put both receipt # and A# on every page and on the envelope too-makes it easy to be recognized by USCIS.)1.cover letter2.check3.photos4.I-4855.G-325a6.copies of my passport/I-94/DS-3025/the envolope of vaccine7copies of birth /no criminal notary paper8.I-8649.copy of my husband's passport10,letter of his employer11 copies of his 3 years tax return12.evidence of joining his insurance/bank account13 pictures with the family hope it can be helping reference for those who are at this stage Edited February 25, 2012 by bergamot (see edit history) Link to comment
dnoblett
Nice write up. And yes many K-1 Adjustment of status tend to get approved without an interview. Not surprising SS Office would not issue SSN shortly after arrival, it tends to take around 10 days for database to show your status for SSA to issue a number. Biometrics tend to be a pain, you have to do them for AOS, Removal of conditions, if you loose or need to replace green-card, and for naturalization. Crazy, should not need to do if prior Biometrics was say less than 5 years prior. My wife had to do Biometrics 3 times in the past 4 years. 1 Link to comment
