haichen12
This may be a stupid question but I'm pulling together an I-134 right now and I'm not sure what to include. It's my first year working, so I don't have tax returns from past years. What I do have:Photocopies of W-2 (for this year's returns)Letter from my bankPhotocopies of Recent Pay StubsLetter from my employerI also have my Photocopies of my W-4 and M-4 for Masssachusetts although I don't know if that's relevant My income is above the 125% of poverty. Is this enough or do I need to keep looking for other things? Thanks Guys! Link to comment
dnoblett
When preparing the I-134 it is best to understand, the Immigrations Unit of the consulate will be looking at it, and the treat it the same an the I-864, so tend to expect the same evidence recommended for the I-864 to be used with the I-134. I-864 Instructions. http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad334/dnoblett/Immigration%20Stuff/I-864Income-1.jpg http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad334/dnoblett/Immigration%20Stuff/I-864Taxes.jpg http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad334/dnoblett/Immigration%20Stuff/I-864income.jpg An IRS return is not compleat unless the supporting evidence provide the numbers on the return are attached, (W2, 1099) OR you can use IRS Transcripts instead, they are free from the IRS and easy to get. The transcript can be ordered by completing a Form 4506-T (PDF) or calling the IRS toll-free at 800-829-1040 and following the prompts in the recorded message. http://www.irs.gov/f...=199557,00.html The transcripts show up in the mail within a week after ordering them. In my wife's case I used (Past 3 years transcripts, Employer letter, and copies of past 6 months pay stubs.) You will need to provide a letter explaining situation and perhaps evidence that were not working, if in college, then perhaps a copy of class schedules. In this case it is not unusal for the consulate to demand a joint sponsor who has been working, past three years. Edited January 23, 2012 by dnoblett (see edit history) Link to comment
haichen12
Dan, Thanks for the information, the problem might be that I'm inexperienced with taxes period. I have never filed a tax return (I started working January 2011) and this is my first year. Will the IRS have anything on record for me? Are you saying that the W-2 is not enough? Thanks, Mike Link to comment

Thanks, MikeWhen will be your interview? And can you file your return before interview, and provide a copy of the 1040 + W2 with the I-134? And an explanation that this is first year work. I would also have a joint sponsor lined up to also provide an I-134, just in case the consulate demands one. Link to comment
haichen12
Thanks Dan, My parents can co-sponsor if needed. I'll just hurry up with filing my tax returns this week. We haven't been told when our interview will be yet as we just sent out p3 (i mistakenly believed that following the I-134 instructions was enough). Thanks for the help! Link to comment
Amaro
I would get a co-sponsor just in case. Even if you meet the requirements, you cant go wrong with having paperwork for someone that could also support you if the VO believes you are unable to. I got a co-sponsor during my process as well even though I was well above the 125% poverty line. Link to comment
